Abstract

L'invention concerne les gènes CYP93C du soja et de Medicago truncatula isolés, ces gènes codant pour un cytochrome P-450 capable de catalyser la migration aryle d'une flavanone pour produire un produit intermédiaire d'isoflavanone ou une isoflavone. Il est maintenant possible de modifier génétiquement des végétaux pour produire des isoflavones susceptibles d'être bénéfiques pour l'homme et d'améliorer la résistance aux maladies chez les végétaux. On peut donc produire des isoflavones dans des espèces végétales transgéniques ne contenant pas naturellement d'isoflavones, autrement dans des espèces autres que les légumineuses. Dans une variante, on peut provoquer une biosynthèse d'isoflavonoïdes, induite par une infection, dans des espèces non légumineuses, ce qui vient compléter avec avantage la défense de la phytoalexine contre les agents pathogènes microbiens, une surexpression de la voie des isoflavonoïdes dans les légumineuses permettant par ailleurs une amélioration qualitative de cette réaction de défense. Enfin, on peut transformer positivement l'efficacité de nodulation, et donc le rendement végétal, en modifiant l'importance de la production d'isoflavonoïdes dans les racines des légumineuses.
