Abstract
This is a tennis (or similar sport, such as squash) racket (or a Badminton or such other racket) with some Velcro (or Velcro-like material) attached around the rim (especially at and near the tip) of the head and/or at the butt of the handle of the racket, this helping the player pick up the ball from the ground without much or any bending.
Description
Patent Application : BALL-PICKING TENNIS RACKET
Inventor : BIBHUTI BHUSAN BARDHAN
Pale - 2 (of S) Background of Invention When playing tennis, typically, the player has to bend down to pick up the tennis ball with his or her hands if the ball is lying on the ground.
In the present invention, the player can pick up the ball from the ground with the help of a strip of Velcro (or Velcro-like material) attached to the outer surface of the rim of the tennis racket, thus avoiding bending over, thereby saving energy for the actual play.
This ball may also be picked up with the help of a patch of Velcro (or Velcro-like material) attached to the butt of the handle of the racket.
The principle of this invention may be applied to similar sports like Badminton (for example) where, in addition to the Velcro being attached to the Badminton racket as mentioned above, the shuttlecock will need a piece of fibrous (felt-like or fleecy) material attached, say, around the "head" (i.e., the solid narrower part).

3 (of 5 Descriution of Invention Like numbers in parenthesis here refer to like numbers in the drawings in the Diagram -A.
A strip of Velcro (or Velcro-like material) ( 1 ) is attached to the outer surface of the rim of the head (3) of the racket, especially at and near its tip (2).
This Velcro (or Velcro-like material) would grip the ball (typically of tennis or similar sports) when pressed together, say, this ball lying on the ground and the player striking it with said part of the racket. (Thus the player would be able to pick up the said ball without needing to bend down to pick up this ball with his or her hands.) Typically, tennis (or such other sports as squash, etc.) ball has a surface of fibrous (felt-like or fleecy) material that attaches to Velcro (or Velcro-like material). If necessary, such balls may be modified to have a surface that may attach to Velcro (or Velcro-like material) more easily; and this would be considered as within the scope of this present invention, as will be using the principle of this invention applied to similar sports like Badminton (for example) where, in addition to the Velcro being attached to the Badminton racket as mentioned above, the shuttlecock will need a piece of fibrous (felt-like or fleecy) material attached, say, around its "head" (i.e., the solid narrower part).
The said piece of Velcro (or Velcro-like material) may be applied (as a much wider patch, providing much better grip on the ball) at the butt of the racket, alone or in addition to at the head as described above. The surface of this said butt may be made concave (more or less) to correspond to the spherical (convex) surface of the said ball, thus providing more surface area for attachment of the ball to the Velcro (or Velcro-like material) on the said racket.
