Abstract

A device and process for the thermal disinfection of biological waste wherein the waste is placed in a sack of polymeric material and compacted while the gases which are released are filtered and subsequently sealing the chamber and applying heat to the compacted waste, the process being characterized by releasing the pressure on the biological waste after compacting and monitoring the pressure during the step of applying heat thereto. The device operates such that the compacted waste may be automatically ejected from the compacting chamber.
