Abstract
A collar saver may be used on different styles of shirts with collars. It is comprised of an absorbent fibre composed primarily of wood cellulose fluff which is compressed to a moisture-proof sheet of polyethelene or polypropylene. The backing is easily peeled from the adhesive strip and the article may be fastened to, and unfastened from a variety of shirt collars and shirt cuffs.
Description
COLLAR SAVER*
The present invention relates to a collar saver for keeping shirt collars clean, avoidance of fraying and comfortably absorbing perspiration from the neck. It can be used in any style of shirt with a collar or may also be used inside the cuffs of any shirt.
It is desirable to have a collar saver for keeping the shirt collar dry and clean.
It is absorbent and holds moisture away from the skin, can be fastened and unfastened with little effort. The present invention relates to an absorbent liner fastened inside the shirt collar, which prevents ring around the collar, absorbs perspiration and prevents fraying around the shirt collar. It may also be cut to desired length for use inside shirt cuffs to keep them clean.
Because of its continuous length it can be cut to the desired length to fit, each individuals need.
The present invention consists of a collar saver for comfortably absorbing perspiration from the neck, avoid fraying shirt collars and keeping dirt from permanently discoloring collars and cuffs. The "Collar Saver" is secured to the inside different types of shirt collars and cuffs. The body of this collar saver comprises a thin continuous rectangular absorbent layer of wood cellulose fluff, a moisture-proof sheet of polyethelene or polypropylene which is compressed in a quilted fashion. Adhesive is on the moisture-proof side and has a peel-off backing of white craft paper with a silicone release coating.
The invention, as exemplified by a preferred embodiment, is described with reference to the drawings in which:
Figure I is a exploded view of an embodiment of a collar saver of the invention; and Figure 2 is a perspective view of the collar saver in Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings, the embodiment of the invention shown; a collar saver 1 comprises a thin layer of wood cellulose fluff 2 and a moisture-proof backing 3 of polypropylene or polyethelene which are compressed (quilted) together. The adhesive layer 4 adheres to the backing 3 and is covered by a film of a lightweight white craft paper with a silicone release coating 5.
A feature of the collar saver of the invention is its ability to absorb perspiration, keep dirt from becoming embedded in the fabric causing discoloration and prevents fraying around the collar edges. Another advantage is the continuous length allowing the individual to cut to his or her needs the desired amount. The collar saver is not only comfortable but will stay in place due to the adhesive coating, is easily removed and inexpensive enough to be available to all people.
To unfasten the article from the shirt, one needs only pull one end gently from its position inside the collar or cuff.
Although only a single embodiment of the present invention has been described and illustrated, the present invention is not limited to the features of the embodiment, but includes all variations and modifications within the scope of the claims.
