Abstract

The radio receiver (100) for digital radio broadcasts containing different message signal types has a loudspeaker output (16) and a message filter device (28) that passes or conveys only certain predetermined types of message signals to the loudspeaker output and interrupts a current state of the radio receiver (100) to make the preselected messages audible but suppresses the remaining types of message signals so that the current state of the radio receiver is not influenced by those latter signals. The message filter device has different states. These states in a preferred embodiment are designated only, for example, with "OFF", "ON" and "PS". "ON" means that the special message having this attribute is conveyed to the loudspeaker output through the filter device, i.e. the filter device is in the active state. "PS" expands the filter action, since only those programs are selected which contain message signals having this attribute when the program is changed, i.e. when the receiver is tuned to a new program. "OFF" indicates the state of the filter device is not active for message signals having this attribute, i.e. messages of this type are ignored and not passed through the filter device.
