Abstract
In the novelties and collectibles industry it is known that the value of a collectable or novelty item is dependent on the condition of the said item and its component parts at the time of valuation.
In this invention the intent is to offer protection to the tag or label which is secured to the novelty item by the manufacturer of the said item. A protective case has been created in order to envelope and encase the tag or label while permitting it to remain fastened to the particular novelty or collectible item. Using clear plastic molded to the shape of tag or label, the invention permits the clear viewing of the tag and its inscriptions while ensuring that it can be preserved in its pristine condition. The casing permits for the fastening agent which secures the tag or label to the item to remains secured without impeding its function.
The protective case is manufactured to specification to ensure that it fits to form for any tag or label for which protection is required. The case is manufactured using clear rigid Polyvinyl Chloride plastic formed by injection molding in such a way as to ensure that it encases the tag or label and is self fastening to remain securely closed.

Description
SPECIFICATION
Name:
THE TAG PROTECTOR
Description:
This invention relates to a clear plastic casing that protects the label or tag fastened to a novelty or collectable item by its manufacturer. The casing is manually fastened to the said label or tag thereby encasing it and protecting it from wear, tear and the elements.
It is common in the novelty and collectibles industry to value an item according to its state and condition at the time of valuation. The closer the item comes to its original state at the time of manufacture the greater its valuation at resale.
Part of the process of evaluation is to establish the presence of all labels and tags fastened to the item by the manufacturer and their condition. These tags are used by the manufacturers to label the product and provide information on its manufacture and manufacturer. The manufacturer's tag fastened to the item must remain securely fastened and in excellent condition for the item to be assessed at its optimal value. Leaving the tag exposed to the elements and to handling subjects it to wear and tear that will depreciated the value of the novelty item to which it is fastened.
In order to ensure that the novelty and collectible item retains its best value we have invented a clear semi-rigid plastic case molded in the shape and size of the tag or label that the manufacture fastens to the item. Created of clear plastic and constructed to be sturdy this case envelopes the tag thereby ensuring its preservation.
DESCRIPTION
The Tag Protector is a clear Polyvinyl Chloride plastic container formed by injection molding to be used in the novelty and collectibles industry to preserve the tag or label affixed to a collectible or novelty item.
In the drawings that illustrate the embodiments of the invention Figure 1 depicts the design of the Tag Protector case in which the tag or label is to be deposited.
Figure 2 depicts the case with the tag reposed into it while open. In Figure 3 the case is sealed with the tag securely encased.
The invention depicted here is comprised of a one piece, clear plastic polyvinyl chloride case with two sections 1, 2, formed to flt into each other and seal while creating a cavity formed in the shape of the tag or label to be placed therein.
The two sections are connected in the middle by a spine 3, in order to bind sections 1 and 2 together. In the middle of this spine are two creases 4 to facilitate the folding of the two sections and to ensure that they meet precisely thereby creating an optimal seal when joined together with lip 6 and 9 joining.
The ridge 7 and 8 on both sections 1 and 2 is also created to ensure an optimal seal. An indentation 5 is created on the upper portion of the ridge 7 of section 1 in order to ensure that the agent fastening the tag to the item remains undisturbed, functional, secured and does not hamper the ability of the seal between section 1 and 2.
In Figure 2 the tag 10 is placed inside the concave portion of section 1 and rests within the ridge 7. The ridge 7 is formed to contain the tag. The fastening agent 12 is positioned to pass through the indentation 5.
In Figure 3 the sections 1 and 2 are joined together to contain the tag 10 within the Tag Protector. The ridge 7 fits into the ridge 8 to form a seal 11. The tag 10 is contained within the seal 11. The fastener 12 protrudes from the indentation 5.
