Abstract
A packaging display system for products of different categories and sizes, particularly plumbing products, of a plurality of container cases having two ends, one end of which has size-by-color indicia, the second end of which has category-by-color indicia, and a plurality of color code key charts for the first and second ends.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Marketing of products, particularly plumbing products, involves a multitude of sizes from a fraction of an inch up to several inches in diameter. Display of this variety 5 of sizes is known to be done in various ways, one of which is to color code the container case with various colors correlated with the sizes.
Not only are plumbing products of many dirr~l~nt sizes, but also of many dirrelecategories such as tees, ells, reducers, couplings, nipples, unions, etc. Display of this variety of categories of products is known to be done in various ways, one of which is to 10 color code the container case with various colors correlated with the categories.
As a consequence of these many sizes and many categories, a m~nllf~ctllrer such as the assignee herein, as well as distributors and retailers, must purchase and store a vast inventory of container cases and product hlv~ oly for these systems of display.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to provide a novel system of display for plumbingproducts or the like wherein the variety of cases needed to satisfy size-by-color and category-by-color display is greatly re(l~lce~ Each of the novel cases has one end which displays a size-by-color system and the other end which displays a category-by-color system. Color indicia key charts correlate the information for the container cases.
Consequently, retailers can display a selected one or both of these ends of the plurality of cases for ease of location and selection of the needed products by category or by size.
These and other features, advantages and characteristics of the present invention will be further understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art by reference to the following specification, claims and appended drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a display rack with container cases displaying size-by-color in combination with size code color indicia key charts;

Referring now specifically to the drawings, the display system 10 there depictedincludes a large display case structure 12 having a plurality of vertically spaced shelves 14 for supporting display container cases cont~ining plumbing products. This elongated S case with its plurality of vertically spaced shelves preferably allows access to opposite sides thereof, depicted alternately in Figs. 1 and 2. The many individual container cases 16 of various widths are shown to be visible on both sides, one end being viewable on the -size-by-color side (Fig. 1), and the other end being viewable on the category-by-color -side (Fig. 2).
In Fig. 1 the size-by-color arrangement is shown to have individual labels on the -first ends of the cut case containers. The ends of the cases have a partial cutout for ready access and viewing of the contents such as plumbing products. These labels have at least -a portion which is color coded, such as the red, green and blue example label portions in -Fig. 1. Further, the display has color code indicia key charts 18, each with a plurality of -multicolored indicia corresponding to the label colors and shown here to be at the bottom of these charts for correlating the sizes of the plumbing products with the respective colors. For convenience, the display case is also divided into the type of material such as -PVC, copper, schedule 40, etc., of which the plumbing products are commonly formed, and the field of use such as refrigeration and air conditioning. Consequently, a purchaser or store clerk can readily select the correct size plumbing products n.oe-le(l Referring to Fig. 2, here again the ends of the individual containers 16 have label portions which are of colors, for example, red, green, blue and yellow, for different categories, e.g., copper, PVC, etc. The display includes color indicia key charts correlating the categories with specific colors for identifi~tion of products.
The dual label arrangement on opposite ends of the container cases allows the store personnel to position the specific products on the selling shelves lltili7ing either or both size-by-color or category-by-color merch~n-licing concepts.

Modifications of the invention will occur to those skilled in the art and to those who make or use the invention. Therefore, it is understood that the embodiment shown in the --drawings and described above is merely for illustrative purposes and not intended to limit the scope of the invention, which is def~ed by the following claims as ill~l~l~L~d according to the principles of patent law, including the doctrine of equivalents.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Marketing of products, particularly plumbing products, involves a multitude of sizes from a fraction of an inch up to several inches in diameter. Display of this variety 5 of sizes is known to be done in various ways, one of which is to color code the container case with various colors correlated with the sizes.
Not only are plumbing products of many dirr~l~nt sizes, but also of many dirrelecategories such as tees, ells, reducers, couplings, nipples, unions, etc. Display of this variety of categories of products is known to be done in various ways, one of which is to 10 color code the container case with various colors correlated with the categories.
As a consequence of these many sizes and many categories, a m~nllf~ctllrer such as the assignee herein, as well as distributors and retailers, must purchase and store a vast inventory of container cases and product hlv~ oly for these systems of display.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An object of this invention is to provide a novel system of display for plumbingproducts or the like wherein the variety of cases needed to satisfy size-by-color and category-by-color display is greatly re(l~lce~ Each of the novel cases has one end which displays a size-by-color system and the other end which displays a category-by-color system. Color indicia key charts correlate the information for the container cases.
Consequently, retailers can display a selected one or both of these ends of the plurality of cases for ease of location and selection of the needed products by category or by size.
These and other features, advantages and characteristics of the present invention will be further understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art by reference to the following specification, claims and appended drawings.

Referring now specifically to the drawings, the display system 10 there depictedincludes a large display case structure 12 having a plurality of vertically spaced shelves 14 for supporting display container cases cont~ining plumbing products. This elongated S case with its plurality of vertically spaced shelves preferably allows access to opposite sides thereof, depicted alternately in Figs. 1 and 2. The many individual container cases 16 of various widths are shown to be visible on both sides, one end being viewable on the -size-by-color side (Fig. 1), and the other end being viewable on the category-by-color -side (Fig. 2).
In Fig. 1 the size-by-color arrangement is shown to have individual labels on the -first ends of the cut case containers. The ends of the cases have a partial cutout for ready access and viewing of the contents such as plumbing products. These labels have at least -a portion which is color coded, such as the red, green and blue example label portions in -Fig. 1. Further, the display has color code indicia key charts 18, each with a plurality of -multicolored indicia corresponding to the label colors and shown here to be at the bottom of these charts for correlating the sizes of the plumbing products with the respective colors. For convenience, the display case is also divided into the type of material such as -PVC, copper, schedule 40, etc., of which the plumbing products are commonly formed, and the field of use such as refrigeration and air conditioning. Consequently, a purchaser or store clerk can readily select the correct size plumbing products n.oe-le(l Referring to Fig. 2, here again the ends of the individual containers 16 have label portions which are of colors, for example, red, green, blue and yellow, for different categories, e.g., copper, PVC, etc. The display includes color indicia key charts correlating the categories with specific colors for identifi~tion of products.
The dual label arrangement on opposite ends of the container cases allows the store personnel to position the specific products on the selling shelves lltili7ing either or both size-by-color or category-by-color merch~n-licing concepts.

Claims (3)
1. A packaging display system for a variety of products of different categories and sizes, comprising:
a plurality of container cases having two ends;
size-by-color indicia on one end of said cases for selection of needed sizes of products; and category-by-color indicia on the second end of said cases for selection of needed categories of products.

2. The packaging display system in claim 1 wherein said size-by-color indicia have a different color scheme than said category-by-color indicia.
3. The packaging display system in claim 1 including size-by-color indicia key cards for said one end of said cases and category-by-color indicia key cards for said second end of said cases.
