Abstract

This apparatus is designed for bicycle parking and storage.
The invention consists of being able to place a item like a bicycle onto a track mounted vertically and being able to lock at the desired height. This invention also consist in reducing the amount of space needed for storage. This invention also consist of making these tracks free-standing with a multitude of units attached to one another.

This invention relates to devices that would allow parking of your bicycle. This device would allow to store the bicycle at a height that would make it difficult to tamper or steal the said bicycle. The device would allow to install the bicycle at a normal height for ease of installation. The device would then slide upwards to elevate the bicycle from the ground to a height that would be difficult to tamper with the cycle without using a ladder or other source to climb onto.

ALsln~_t This apparatus is designed for bicycle parking and storage.
The invention consists of being able to place a item like a bicycle onto a track mounted vertically and being able to lock at the desired height. This invention also consist in reducing the amount of space needed for storage. This invention also consist of making these tracks free-standing with a multitude of units attached to one another.

Field of the invention This invention relates to devices that would allow parking of your bicycle.

Backqround of the Invention The use of these device would be needed to protect bicycles from vandalism and theft. The bicycle industry is finding a surge in sales of high end bicycles meaning the higher priced bicycles are selling well. But the trend is that theft of parts from these bicycles that might be worth a lot of money on a black market are increasing as well. This device would permit the owner of the bicycle to elevate his bicycle higher, making the removal of parts very difficult without being seen by passer-by's. This device would be installed on the side of buildings attached by a few bolts into the wall.
Another way to install this device would be to attach a multitude of devices by using a ring at the bottom and at the top, then you would secure this device to the pavement or to the cement by using anchor bolts.

This device would permit parking for bicycles alongside sidewalks that normally would not have enough room to park a bicycle. The bicycles would be higher then pedestrians being at the average height of 8 to 10 feet from the ground. This would allow plenty of clearance for pedestrians.

The device would have a lateral support that would enable you to lock the mid frame onto the sliding part of the device, this would CA 02207~88 1997-06-2~

lock the bicycle onto the slide and would act as lateral support against cross winds.

The device would then slide up by any means to then lock it in the preferled height pending on the height of the owner. The device would permit to use your prefer, ed lock to lock the frame and then lock it in the elevate position.

SummarY of the Invention To summarise this invention would be to say that an apparatus that is mounted either on a structure or free-standing would permit to install your bicycle or other item to then lift the item away from the ground, this would make vandalism that much more complicated without using a ladder or other device to raise yourself. This device is also conceived for the use in very populated areas where parking is at a premium. This accomplished by using a very small amount of space on the ground and flaring at the top or like a umbrella. This invention also permit advertising on the roof or on the tracks.

Detailed DescriPtion of the Invention While this invention is susceptible of embodiment in many different forms, as is shown in the drawing, and will be described CA 02207588 1997-06-2~

herein in detail a specific embodiment thereof with the underslanding that the present disclosure is to be considered as an exemplification of the principles of the invention and is not intended to limit the invention to the specific embodiment illustrated.

This a~par~ s is generally made of metals and in some cases plastics can be used. The apparatus consist of a track as seen in FIG 1 and in FIG 2. There is a fixed track and a moving track. The fixed track would be affixed to the wall or any structure that would permit. A multitude of tracks could be attached to themselves or aided by a ring as in FIG 3 creating any form you wish, these tracks would be anchored to the cement or any other substance on the ground FIG 4.

FIG 7 shows generally how a bicycle is attached to a track FIG
1. The bicycle is placed on the track by hooking the front wheel or back wheel into the hook, this permits you to hang the bicycle on the track.

Once the bicycle or other is on the track the weight of the cycle keeps a vertical line. By placing the stabiliser bar FIG 5 and attaching a padlock to the frame of the bicycle or other, serves as CA 02207~88 1997-06-2~

stabilising the item from swaying from side to side. This also permits to lock the item onto the track.

The item is now secured to the track, this would permit you to lift the item by pulling up on the handle FIG 6 to the desired height and affixing your padlock, this would lock the slide onto the track at the desired height.

2. An apparatus that would allow to lock a bicycle or other item to the wall or other.
3. An apparatus that would allow to lift the bicycle or other along a track making the item hard to reach.
4. An Apparatus that would allow a locking position along the track to set the desired height.
5. An apparatus that would allow to store more bicycles or other in a limited space.
6. An apparatus that would be assembled together to from a free-standing multiple parking for bicycles or other.
7. An apparatus that would be easily installed on any building or vertical structure.
8. An apparatus that would be used for advertising.
