Abstract

The pet grooming brush comprises a brush backing bristles fixed to the bottom face of the brush and regularly distributed thereon. A
strap is disposed on the top face of the brush backing so as to enable a hand of a user to slide thereunder to hold the brush against the palm of the hand. The brush also contains teeth which are generally perpendicular to the bristles and which are regularly distributed at the front end of the brush backing. The teeth are shaped and arranged to disentangle knotted hair formed in the coat of the animal.

Description

TITLE: PET GROOMING BRUSH

This invention relates to a pet grooming brush which is particularly usefill for cats or short hair dogs.
All kinds of devices are known for grooming the coat of animals, particularly cats and dogs. However, to my knowledge, none has been designed for specific use with cats and short hair dogs.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a pet grooming brush which specifically desi ned for cats and short hair dogs.
The present invention relates to a pet grooming brush which comprises a brush backing;
bristles fixedly disposed ag~in~t a bottom face of said brush backing and regularly distributed therelll~ough;
~ll~ping means disposed on a top face of said brush backing so as to enable a hand of a user to slide thereunder to hold said brush ag~in~t the palm of said hand; and teeth generally perpendicular to said bristles and regularly distributed at a front end of said brush backin~ said teeth shaped and 20 arranged to disçntangle knotted formed on the coat of the ~nim~l The invention is illustrated by means of the annexed drawings, but is not restricted thereto. Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that the brush 1 according to the invention comprises a brush backing 3 which is plerel~bly formed of a slightly flexible plastic m~t~n~l~ for ex~mple low density polyethylene, which m~t~rial has a suitable flexibility and 30 enables the baçking to adapt to the palm of a hand, and which, in the illustrated embodiment has an oblong shape. Against the bottom face of backing 3, bristles 5 are regularly distributed, as shown, and are fixedly disposed against, such as by being embedded within the matçri~l of the backing The bristles are plerelably made of a plastic material, although 35 any suitable material may be used.

As shown, the b~c~in~ is oblong. In ~ddition~ to provide a suitable ~lla~i.lg means which will be discussed later, a cut 7 is formed from point 9 to point 11, to extend half the perimeter of the brush, the cut ,being always a the same distance from the outer edge of the 5 b~çking As shown in FIGURE 1, this cut constihlte some kind of a strap when lifting it in the direction of arrow 13, enabling to insert at least part of the four fingers of a hand thereunder as shown.
Finally, the brush according to the invention includes a row of teeth 15 which are perpendicular to the bristles and are provided at the 10 front part of the b~cking In use, the brush is held by inserting the four fingers of a hand mdçrneath the strap and lying ~g~in~t the top face of b~ckin~ 3.
Brushing of the animal is carried out by riding the bristles ~g~in~t the coat of the ~nim~l If knots are present in the coat~ disent~nglement 15 takes place by using the brush perpendicularly to its normal use and allowing the teeth to pass through the knots formed.

1. A pet grooming brush which comprises a brush backing bristles fixedly disposed against a bottom face of said brush backing and regularly distributed throughout, strapping means disposed on a top face of said brush backing so as top enable a hand of a user to slide thereunder to hold said brush against the palm of said hand, and teeth generally perpendicular to said bristles and regularly distributed at a front end of said brush backing, said teeth shaped and arranged to disentangle knotted hair formed in the coat of the animal.
