Abstract
On fournit de l'air à partir d'une source d'air, vers une extrémité de pipette jetable (11). En absence d'obstruction sur le trajet entre l'alimentation et l'extrémité, l'air va circuler librement et une contre-pression minime sera mesurée par le transducteur de pression (12) situé en amont de l'extrémité, dans un circuit d'alimentation en air. L'extrémité est abaissée vers la surface (16) du liquide par un bras (20) de robot. Lorsque l'extrémité vient en contact avec la surface, le liquide arrête la circulation de l'air et la pression détectée par le transducteur augmente. Cette augmentation signale que l'extrémité de la pipette a trouvé le niveau du liquide. L'extrémité est abaissée sous la surface du liquide et une source de vide est couplée au circuit d'alimentation en air. Le liquide est aspiré par l'extrémité. Le transducteur mesure une pression négative. La pression mesurée dépend du débit d'air, de la viscosité du liquide et d'un certain nombre d'autres facteurs secondaires. Lorsque le débit d'air et ces autres facteurs sont connus, on peut mesurer la viscosité et le changement de viscosité. Un caillot ou un gel dans le liquide à l'extrémité, produit une augmentation plus importante du vide partiel et le caillot ou le gel se trouve ainsi détecté.
