Abstract

The invention relates to a door mounting for solid glass doors, which is provided with a cover shaped plate into the upper visible surface of which different plates inserts can be introduced.

Description

~A~l 39~1 DOOR FITTING WITH PLATE
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a door fitting which is provided with a plate, in particular a mounting plate in the form of a rosette or the like. This mounting plate is applied as a cover onto the projecting edges of a base construction, with which it is then positively joined.
In the field of building mountings, it is important lo that mounting plates are attached permanently, yet for possible assembly and necessary service work, these mounting plates nevertheless have to be removed without destruction. Thereby care is to be taken that attachment means are not to be noticed for aesthetic reasons.
From the EP-O 484 594 Al a mounting plate attachment has become known, in which a cover shaped plate with a rounded edge is pressed over a base plate. Thereby the retention between the base plate and the plate is 20 secured along the circumference by means of spring web notches consisting of various sections along the circumference with the corresponding counter notches.
Thia type of attachment i6 6uppo6ed to reduce the a66embly time.
The ob ~ ect of the invention i6 to create a door mounting which, ba6ed on a ba6e body, it can be adapted univer6ally to the 6urrounding condition6 in de6ign, i6 ea6ily exchangeable, i6 c06t favorable in production and i6 not noticeable in it6 overall 30 appearance, whereby the clamping effect and therewith 39~

the holding of a solid gla6a door i8 not to be reduced nor is it to be increased. Also it must be ensured that the mounting also can be adapted regarding its outer appearance to the other mounting parts which are used.
To remedy this situation, the invention teaches that the mounting plate is attached on a carrier by means of a clip or notch connection, whereby the mounting plate is designed such that a recess is worked into lo its center, dominant, visible field or surface at the upper side, into which recess, depending on requirements, the necessary plate insert can be inserted. The plate insert can consist of brass, stainless steel or of a lacquered metal or steel or of thin stone plates or wood inserts. Due to this type of design the moulding plate can also be produced in different manners, in one instance as plastics injection moulded part or alternatively as light metal die casting part. By means of this 20 invention and as a result of this universal base plate, it is possible to take care of the aesthetic requirements of a customer practically in all application fields, making possible a subsequent exchange of the plate insert in order to adapt the plate to the rhrln~fn~ use possibilities, without the need to exchange the overall mounting structure.
By using a sub-construction, in this case a carrier, a large surface unit can be secured, for example in the attacbment to a glass door. Thereby this 30 carrier, if it consists of plastics material, simultaneously can be considered as an int~ 3tf~
layer. A cover in the form of a plate can surround the carrier without additional tools, making possible ~ CA2~39841 a locking or clipping between the carrier and the plate upon mutual and correct abutment.
The invention is explained in more detail by means of different schematically represented embodiment examples. It is shown in:
FIGURE 1 mounting in section seen from above with section solid glass door FIGURE 2 detail of a sectional assembly plate FIGURE 3 mounting in front view lo FIGURE 4 solid glass door with mountings DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
In Figure 4 the obj ect in accordance with the invention is represented in the built~in condition, whereby the mounting (16) is applied both at the upper as well as the lower side of the door. In the lower region a floor door lock (17) is mounted by way of a rotational axle (10) to the mounting (16).
Similarly the door panel (14) is provided on the right hand side with an upper and a lower lock (15).
20 The mounting (16), considered in its mounted embodiment, is clearly illustrated in Figure 1. A
solid glass door (1) is provided with the mounting parts (16) and (18). Thereby the mounting part (16) is shown in section, 80 as to explain how the connection between the plate (2) and the carrier below is provided. In principle the mounting part (18) is constructed in the same manner. The solid ~ CA2 139841 glass door (1) is joined positively by connection elements, which are not illustrated, to the carrier (3) of the mounting part ~16) and also to the carrier, which also is not illustrated, below the mounting part (18). Thereby the carriers (3) are to be produced of light metal or as in~ection moulded parts, which allow a fitting of the plates (2) or (4), that is the sides (19) must be fully resilient or resilient in partial zones. However, it is lO possible to produce the carrier (3) of a plastics material. The carrier (3) has sides (19) facing away from the door panel, which in their end regions have engagement pro~ections or noses (5), 80 as to receive the mounting plates (2) snd (4). Thereby the design of the mounting plates (2) and (4) is to be such that a displacement is possible across the engagement noses (5). Therewith there results from the engagement noses (5) and the circumferential side wall (11) of the mounting plates (2) and (4) a secure 20 notch retention (6), which is easily demountable from the outside. The plates (2) and (4) therewith present a type of over~crowning or covering of the carr ier ( 3 ) .
The mounting plates (2) and (4) have further characteristics, which are more clearly represented in Figure 2. The side wall (11) of the mounting plates (2) and (4) t~rmin~tes, for example, in a projecting circumferential edge (13). This edge (13) can be simple web, but it also can, as is illustrated 30 in Figure 1, be bevelling. Towards the visible upper side (12) of the mounting plate (2) and (4), a recess (9) is introduced in the mounting plate (2). An insert (8) can be inserted into the recess (9), which insert can consist of different materials. Such r~

inserts can, for example, be bronze inserts, or stainless steel inserts, or lacquered inserts of different materials, or wood inserts or also stone inserts. Due to the created recess ~9) therewith the mounting parts (16) and (18) can be adapted to match the design conditions of the surroundings. Such adaptation can also take place subsequently, that is when the overall surroundings of the mounting changes due to renovation work then an adaptation of the o mounting to the new surroundings can be performed, also cost favorably by exchange of the insert (8) because the actual mounting need not be exchanged.
