Abstract
An arrangement for the transportation of goods, such as paper rolls, comprising a load carrier which includes a goods-carrying bottom plate. The arrangement is mainly characterized by a lifting post (4) which is upstanding centrally from the bottom plate (2) and by means of which a loaded load-carrier can be lifted.
Description
W O 93/22205 ~ l 3 ~i O Q ~ PC~r/SE92/00268 , An AI3l~x~ament F~caininq to the TransPortation of Goods The present m vention relates to an arxx~ngement F~r~a m in3 to th~
transportation of gocds, such as paper rolls.
The t~ x~rtation of large paper rolls frcm the paper mac~Lh~e to the final con~m~er is er~m~bered with problems in the form of a large ~umker of handling and trans-shipmnt or relo, ading c ~ tions, am~ng other t ~ s. These cperations are time-Dcnsumurg, risk intensive and relatively often result in damage to the rolls.
~he present Lnvention provides a solution t~ these problems.
m e Lnvention thus relates to an arrangement perta ~ to the trans-portation of gocds, such as paF~r rolls, which includes a l~ad carrier hav ~ a bottom plate inteniçd for supporting said goods, for lnstance paper rolls.
The arr ~ ement is mainly ~ cterized by a lifting post ~y means of which the load carrier can be li~t~d, said lift m g post being centrally located and protruding upwards fr~m the bott4m plate.
.
The m vention will now be described Ln more detail wi~h ref~rence tc exemplify m g e thereof and also with reference to the a~ymg draw m gs, in which - Figure 1 is a sdhematic~ pcrspective ~iew of a first ~ t of an inven~ive unloaded load carrier;

- Figure 7 illustrates schematically a warehouse in accordance with Figure 6; and - Figure 8 illustrates sch~ma~ically a hoist fitting for an~inven-tive lifting post. ,, Figure 1 illustrates a load carrier 1 which includes a bcttom plate 2 intended to ~ rt paper rolls 3 for instance, and a lifting po6t 4 which extends oentrally ~ s from the bottom plateO Also shcwn in the Figure is a ~ plate 5 which, according to one preferr0d en~xxl~ment, is intendbd to cover or generally coYer the ~ r surfaces 6 of the rolls plac2d on the bo~tom plate 2 (Figure 2) and which includes an aperture 7 ~ ough ~hich the lift mg post 4 can ke reached or project.
The bct~om plate is prcvided with pockets 8 which acoommndate the lift m 3 forks of a fork-lift truck, said pockets preferably bein~
pro~ided on all sides 9 of ~he bottcm plate.
It is preferred that the lifting post is rem~vable fro~ th~ k~ttom plate. In ~his regard, although not shown, the lift mg post may be l ~ le to the bottom plate ~y m~ns of a bayonet fittIn~ or ~y scme other sNitable reans. ~ent to rem~ving th~ tin3 p~sts from respective b~n plates, the b~ plates can be stac~ked or~e upon 25 the other for r~turn to a depot, for ins~a~e. It is also preferred that the lifting posts can be ext~ed an~ short~, in ord~r to be a~le to ad~pt the v ~ tical ext~sioIl of the post to differ~r~
heights/l ~ of the paper rolls. For instance, the lift ~ ~
may have a telescupic constructi~n in a suitable manner, alth~ugh not shown.
M~unted on ~he upper free end 10 of the lifting p~st is a hoist i-fit~ m ~ 11. The hoist fitting is pref2rably adapked for con ~

where m the head can be locked in engagement with the fitting by t ~ the head. Further turning of the head will ~ring it ~o a position in which it can be rem~ved through said openIng. The lift mg head may be arranged generally in accordance with the teaching~ of Swedish Patent Specification No. 7904086-1, in which case ~he head is rotatad or tNrned by be m 3 pressed a ~ t an in~ernal bott~m surface ~n the fitting. m e load can ~e lif~ed by means of a truck or like machine provided with at least one horizontally and forwardly extendiDg lifting he~d, with the aid of ~ s on the sides of the fitting.
Ihe liftLng post will preferably include a lashing 14 by means of which the load can be secureJ.
Figure 4 illustrates a lifting device 15 which is intended for coac~ion with a lift mg arrangemnt 16, in the illustrated case a crane arrange-ment 16, and at l ~ one load ~arrier, in the illustrated case four carriers. The Figure illustra ~ an em~odiment in which the lifting device is prQvided with lifting heads 13 of the aforesaid kind. Shown in Figurs 5 is a lifting device 15 of generally the s~me kind which is mounted, insbeal, on a lift ~ arrangement m the form of a traverse 17.
Figures 4, 5 and 6 illustrate d~ifferent loading and unl~ading situa-tions in which inventive arrangements are used.
'rhe method in whi~h ~he inventive arrar~ement works will be unde~
~tiall~ fram the aforego~ng. ~e intention is that th~ paper rollers are pla~ed on t~e load carriers alread~ he pr~xim~ty of t:he paper ~a~ine and æe not r~ved fram t:he lo~d carriers u~til they are us~d finally in a prir~ ~ hall or same lik~ place. All reloadingj trans-shipment ~ transportation shall be ~ffected with the load c~rriers and n~t with the rolls th,~mselv,~s. T.iftIng is '~
effected with the aid of the lifting post. The rolls are protected by 3`
the cover plate or cover sheet, which also forms a friction-enhanc element when stacking several load carriers one ~ the o~h~r.
i It will be evident from the aforeg~ing that the m vention provides ad-vantag,~s in the form of eliminating risXs anl damage, m comparison W 0 93/22205 ~8 1 PCI/SE92/002 with known techniques. The invention also enables loading/unloading operations, for e ~ le quay-side operations to be fully automa~ed, thereby elimlnatmg the n2ed of separate stowing personnel.
Although the invention has been described in the aforegoing essentially with reference to an exemplify mg embodiment thereof, it will ke <
unde ~ th~t other e=lodiments and minor modifications are con-ceivable without departi~g from the Lnventive concept.
With regard to the construction of the bottom plates and the material from which they are made, the pla~s are preferably of li~htweight construction, su~h as a ~ ich-type construction, made of steel, lightmetal, fibreglass glass material or some simil~r apprcpriate matexial.
It is conceivable to use some other device than the lifting p~st, for instance an eye or the like which coacts with a lifting hook. The de ~ ibed and illustrated sy ~ , however, enables opera~ions to be autmated.
Ai~ording to one embodiment which is preferred in certain cases, the bottom plate for instance is provided with devices which enable at least tw~ adjacEnt load carriers to be co ~ toge~her f~r s~pport-m g, for mscance, long goods, such as packaged wood.
The load carrier is also sui ~ le for carrying bag-like containers, such as ~ led jumbo bags (not shown) c~ntaining, for instance, granular produ ~ . Ac~ording to on2 embodiment of 5u~h sack like conta mers adapted to ~he l~ad carrier, the c~nta ~ has a centrally located channel which is in~ended to be fitted over ~he lift m g pcst and through which th~ lift mg pcst is thus Lntended to exte~, thereby holding ~he con ~ ~o the load carrier.
The invention is thus ~t restricted to the aforedescribed an~ illu-strated embcdhments thereof since m~difications are possible within the sccpe of the following Claims.
