Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
This method of manufacturing simulated brick products from plastics and other mouldable materials utilizes a high intensity mixing machine to tranform the material into a malleable form from which brick-like articles can be moulded. The materials can be formulated to give properties and appearances as required for specific uses. The products can be manufactured in one piece utilizing a single material or can be made as a shell whereby another material is used as a filler. In this case the filler is also used as a die in the moulding process and is configured to allow good flow and positive adherence to the outer shell.

Description
2 1 ~
THE MANUFACTURE OE SIMULATED BRICK PRODUCTS FROM
PLASTIC AND OTHER MOULDABLE MAT~
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing brick like products from plastic and other materials. This process utilizes a high intensity mixing machine which transforms materials into a malleable state. The material is then moulded into products which have the appearance of brick and properties dependent upon the ingredients used. This process allows for the use of a wide variety of mixed materials, a subsequent unlimited list of properties and very low manufacturing costs. The products that are made with fillers can utilize less exp~nsive, more readily available, or otherwise more appropriate materials for their interiors. These materials would also be processed in a high intensity mixer.
While the products are formed using conventional compression moulding techniques, the process to make the products with fillers utilizes two new features.
The first is to use the filler as the female die part of the formi~g mould and the other is to configure the filler as to lock it to the shell.( see Fig. 1 ) As an example, a filler for a brick shaped product would be made slightly smaller then the finished product. This filler would be allowed to harden and would then be used as a die to form the finished product. The filler would adhere to the shell by the intrinsic properties of the heated materials and by the locking groove in the filler. ~ -
