Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A fire sprinkler head having a body with a liquid flow channel extending therethrough. The sprinkler head is characterized by venturi air injector ports extending through the body and intersecting the liquid flow channel. Air is drawn through the venturi air injector ports by liquid flowing through the liquid flow channel to create a turbulent spray.

Description
2096029 : ~
The present invention relates to a fire sprinkler head.
A problem encountered with fire sprinkler heads presently in use is a limited range of liquid spray emitted when liquid passed through the sprinkler heads.
SUMMARY OF THE INVEliTION
What is required is a sprinkler head with an increased spray range.
According to the present invention there is provided a fire sprinkler head having a body with a liquid flow channel extending therethrough. The sprinkler head is characterized by venturi air injector ports extending through the body and intersecting the liquid flow channel. Air is drawn through the venturi air injector ports by liquid flowing through the liquid flow channel to create a turbulent spray.
EIRIEF DESCRIPTION OF T~E DRAWINGS
These and other features of the invention will become more apparent from the following description in which reference is made to the appended drawings, wherein:
FIGU~E 1 is a section view of sprinkler head constructed in accordance with the teachings of the present invention.
DETAILED DFSCRIP~ION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
The present invention a fire sprinkler head generally identified by reference numeral 10 will now be described with reference to FIGURE 1.
. . . .
220960~9 :::
Fire sprinkler head 10 has a body 12 with a liquid flow channel 14 extending therethrough. A diffuser 13 is positioned in the path of liquid flow channel 14. A fusible plug 15 is positioned at a remote end 16 of liquid flow channel 14.
The unique aspect of fire sprinkler head 10 is the presence of venturi air injector ports 18 extend through body 12 and intersecting liquid flow channel 14. When in use air is drawn through venturi air injector ports 18 by liquid flowing through liquid flow channel 14 to create a turbulent spray.
It will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the presence of venturi air injector ports increases the range of the spray. It will be apparent to one skilled in the art that modifications may be made to the illustrated embodiment without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the claims. ;
