Abstract
A mechanical shifting device has a casing (1) and a ball (5) fitted therein in a cage (4). On the input side a shifting lever (2) is arranged radially downwards on the ball (5) and rigidly secured which, together with the ball (5), can make two rotary movements about axes (19, 24) passing mutually perpendicular through the centre (6) of the ball (5). On the output side there are two separate transmission components (13, 23) which take the form of pins and are arranged with their axes parallel to each other. The two transmission components (13, 23) are each connected to the ball (5) via a freewheel, whereby the two freewheels are so constructed and mutually arranged that one freewheel has a conveyor function for one transmission component (13) on the first rotary movement of the shift lever (2) and the other has a freewheeling function for the other transmission component (23), while the situation is reversed in the second rotary movement of the shifting lever (2).
