Abstract

Abstract of the Disclosure A gas detector gas leakage and controller for a smoke exhauster comprising a gas sensor and control unit integrally housed under the hood of a conventional smoke exhauster. High concentrations of gas, of the type used for cooking and heating due to a gas leakage, is detected by the gas sensor and control unit which gives an aural warning through a buzzer and visual warning through indicator lights, both integrally mounted on the smoke exhauster. The fan motors of the smoke exhauster are automatically activated by the control unit to evacuate gas from the room and shuts off automatically shortly after gas levels have been reduced to safe levels as determined by the gas sensor and control unit.

Claims

THE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1) A gas leakage detector and controller for a smoke exhauster comprising a smoke exhauster, an integrally mounted control unit, a gas sensor disposed under the hood of said smoke exhauster, a buzzer and at least one indicator light disposed on the front of the hood of said smoke exhauster, wherein:

a detection circuit in said control unit determines the presense of dangerous gas levels based on a signal from said gas sensor;

the fan motors of said smoke exhauster are automatically activated by circuits in said control unit when said detection circuit determines the presence of dangerous gas levels and automatically shut off when safe levels of gas are attained;

said buzzer is also activated by circuits in the control unit to give an audible warning when said detection circuit determines the presence of dangerous gas levels, and concomitantly said one or more indicator lights are activated to give a visual warning.
