Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate misdetection and ensure the detection of the lowering of awakening degree by a system wherein the lowering of awakening degree is determined by the detection of more frequent hurried steering states than the predetermined number of times during the predetermined time and the alarming device is put into operation based upon said determination. CONSTITUTION:A steering angle detection circuit 1 to output a steering angle signal in proportion to the steering angle of steering operation is connected to a hurried steering detection circuit, which outputs a hurried steering signal when the steering angle changes to the same direction per unit time exceeds the predetermined value. The hurried steering detection circuit 2 is reset its counted values by the clock pulses outputted from a clock generator circuit 3 every predetermined time and, when said counted values reach the predetermined value, connected to a counter 4 to issue an alarm signal. Furthermore, said counter 4 is connected to an alarming unit 5 to issue an alarm based upon the alarm signal.

As a conventional vehicle warning system, for example, when there is a steering operation accompanied by a change in steering angle of 12 degrees or more in the same direction per second (hereinafter referred to as "sudden steering"), it is determined that the driver's alertness level has decreased. There are some that are designed to issue an alarm.

However, conventional vehicle warning systems issue an alarm when a sudden steering condition is detected.
Even in the case of emergency tightening in order to avoid falling objects or holes on the road, an alarm will be issued, and there is a risk that a decrease in alertness will be erroneously detected.

FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of the present invention, which includes a steering angle detection circuit 1 that outputs a steering angle signal corresponding to the steering angle of a steering operation, and a steering angle detection circuit 1 that inputs the steering angle signal and performs steering in the same direction for a unit time. A sudden steering detection circuit 2 outputs a sudden steering signal when the angle change exceeds a predetermined value, and a clock pulse is generated from a clock generation circuit 3 that counts the sudden steering signals and outputs them at predetermined intervals. A counter 4 that outputs an alarm signal when the counted value is reset and the counted value becomes, for example, 2, and an alarm unit 5 that issues an alarm based on the alarm signal (the alarm may be a sound, audio, or visual display). In a configuration with a margin of 3 degrees or more, the counter 4 is connected to the clock generation circuit 3.
The sudden steering signal is counted at a predetermined time interval, which is the generation interval of the clock pulse output from the controller.
