Abstract
ABSTRACT
Bright and undimmed lights of motorized vehicles reduce a driver's ability to see oncoming traffic and his own side of the road, especially when driving in the rain at night. A filter with a unique shape is strategically placed between the light of the oncoming traffic and the eyes of the driver. The filter reduces the intensity of the lights and the glare they produce, enabling the driver to see both, the oncoming traffic and his/her own side of the road more clearly. The filter can also be used to reduce undesirable effects of sunlight and its glare.

DISCLOSVRE:
THE TITLE of the invention i~ Glare Guard.

TWO ATTACHED DRAWINGS illu~tr~te the embodiment and the utility of Glare Guard:
FIGURE ONE io the side view of the invention, FIGURE TWO i9 the front viow of the invention, FIGURE THREE is an approximation of the driver's viow during normal driving, showing ths location whero Glare Guard is attachod to the sun vi~or in respect to the driver's view of the road, and FIGURE FOUR io an approximation of the drivor'~ view as the drivor useo Glare Guard to avoid the light and glare of , oncoming traffic.
,, .
.~ THE COMPOSITION OF MATTER for Glare Guard i~ tr~nsparent, colored . . , ploxigla#s or safety glass.
^:
THE COLO~ of Glaro Guard may be varied that the uoer can ~olect a color to match tho decorum of the vohicle and/or the amount to light that the u~er wi~hos to bo filtered out.
THE DIMENSION9 of Glare Guard are specified in Figures One and Two. Howovor, the dimenoions may be altored to serve vehicleo of ~ll sizes, ouch as cars, bu8000, trucks, ovon motorcyclos with wind shields, and others; but the angle "~" on Section ~B" of Glare Guard shall remain approximately 140 degroeo (Seo Figure Two).
DISCLOSURE, Page - 1 . .

The two holes in Section "A" of Glare Guard are provldod that Glare Guard may be attached with two self-tapping screw~ to the ~un visor of motorized vehicles.
For the installation of Glare Guard in newly manufactured vehicle~ Section ~A~ of Glare Guard may be modi~i~d to bo incorporated and become an integral part of the sun visor.
UTILITY:
Glare Guard i~ attached near the bottom left hand section of the 10 ~un vi~or ~o that only Section ~B" of Glare Guard protrudes ~elow the bottom line of the sun vi~or. While driving at night the sun visor i~ lowered and adjusted that its bottom line appears well above the horizon so as not to obetruct any vision during normal driving, when the lights and glare of the oncoming traffic pose ; no difficulties to the driver (See Figure Three).
;~
When brlght and undimmod lights of oncoming vehlcle~ and traffic . cause irritation to the eyes of the driver and reduce the r driver's ability to 9ee the road clearly, the driver moves ~5 20 hic/her head slightly upward and to the left that Glare Guard will cover the path of the oncoming vehicle(~) and filter out the irritating headlights and glare of the oncoming traffic tSee Figure Four).
` ~
When the light of the ~un and its glare cause irritation to the eye~ of the driver and reduce the driver's ability to ~ee the road clearly, the procedure described in the preceding paragraph r~ i8 repeated so as to filter out the irritating glare of the : sunlight.

Claims (5)
1. The invention enables drivers during night time driving to filter out the undesirable light and glare of bright and undimmed headlights of oncoming vehicles and enables drivers to have a clear view of their own side of the road, while retaining visual contact with the oncoming traffic.
2. The invention can be used to filter out the glare and sunlight which is reflected of wet and icy roads when the sun is relatively low and directly in front of the driver.
3. The invention adds to the function of the sun visor by keeping sunlight and its glare out to the eyes of drivers during the rising and setting of the sun.
4. The invention's usefulness differs from the conventional sun visors by not merely blocking out the undesirable sunlight and its glare: but by only filtering out the undesirable sunlight and its glare it permits drivers to retain visual CLAIMS, Page - 1 contact with objects that would otherwise be blocked out by the conventional sun visors.
5. The invention can be used also in countries or situations where vehicles are driven on the left side of the road by simply reversing Glare Guard and attaching it near the bottom of the right hand bottom section of the sunvisor immediately in front of the driver.
