Description
2û2~9 SPECIFICATION
The following invention relates to a composition of matter and in particular to a preparation for a treatment of medical disorders, in particular, disorders of the skin including hair loss and disorders of the dermal lining of the mouth and throat.
Numerous preparations are currently available for treatment of disorders of the epidermis. Treatments targeted to specific disorders may cause allergenic responses or induce undesirable side effects. Other treatments may involve pain or discomfort to the patient. Many compositions include active ingredients which are costly to prepare or are available only by prescription. Preparations for more general application may often be ineffective.
The present invention provides a generally effective treatment for a wide range of medical disorders, including disorders of the epidermis and the lining of the mouth and throat. In one embodiment, the preparation comprises fenugreek, whey and an alcohol. Where the alcohol admixed is for external topical use, for example where same is rubbing alcohol, the composition is suitable for treatment of a wide range of skin disorders, including lesions arising from traumatic injury or pathogenic agents. The salve has also been found to successfully treat disorders of the scalp including dandruff and hair loss. In another embodiment of the invention, wherein the alcohol component is suitable for internal use, for example an alcohol liquor such as brandy, the composition is suitable for JJ: 2 20225~9 treatment of disorders of the lining of the oral cavity, particularly cankers and throat irritations.
In another embodiment of the invention, fenugreek may be mixed with talcum powder and applied topically to treat skin disorders including venereal disease, athlete's foot and diaper rash. In a further embodiment, ground fenugreek in capsule form may be taken internally to treat a wide range of medical disorders.
The present invention is comprised of all natural ingredients and is therefore unlikely to induce allergenic reactions. Additionally, the ingredients are not costly and are readily available. Accordingly, the invention provides a composition of matter containing fenugreek, whey and an alcohol.
The alcohol may be selected from a group of` alcohols for external use, such as rubbing alcohol or alcohol suitable for internal use such as alcoholic li~uors. The fenugreek may be in ground powder form or a resinate form. The invention also comprises a mixture of fenugreek with talcum powder and includes ground fenugreek in capsule form for internal use.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides a treatment for medical disorders, and in particular lesions or traumatic injury of the skin and linings of the mouth and throat. The invention also provides a treatment for hair loss and such disorders as venereal disease, athlete's foot and diaper rash. In one embodiment, the salve contains fenugreek, whey and an alcohol.
In a second embodiment, the preparation comprises a mixture of JJ: 3 2022~9 fenugreek and talcum powder. The lnvention also includes ground fenugreek in capsule form for internal use. The ingredients are of natural origin and the composition is therefore unlikely to be allergenic.
Fenugreek is a leguminous herb of the genus Trigonella which is recognized in veterinary medicine. As an emollient, the presence of fenugreek in the preparation is believed to accelerate healing of a variety of medical disorders when topically applied to the skin or the lining of the mouth and throat. The whey is believed to provide nutrients, both organic and mineral, to the effected tissue. The presence of the alcohol enhances the accelerated healing process by virtue of its antiseptic character. The talcum powder may act as a desiccant in the treatment of certain skin disorders. Important aspects of the invention include the topical application of fenugreek and the synergistic interaction of the fenugreek with the alcohol when applied in a whey-based composition.
In one embodiment, the invention is prepared by the addition of powdered fenugreek to whey and boiling the mixture to provide a thick syrup. The solution is cooled and an equal amount of an alcoholic liquid is added. In another embodiment, two heaping teaspoons full of fenugreek powder are added to one litre of whey to which one litre of an alcoholic liquid is subsequently added.
A resinate form of fenugreek may be prepared by boiling ground fenugreek in water, freezing the mixture and further cooling the frozen mixture to produce a resin. one-quarter ounce to two ounces of this resin may be added to one litre of JJ: 4 2022~09 whey to which one litre of an alcoholic liquid may be added in the preparation of a preferred embodiment of the invention.
Another embodiment of the invention may be prepared by admixing ground fenugreek with talcum powder. Fenugreek may also be ground and taken internally in capsule form as a treatment for a wide variety of medical ailments, in particular various forms of cancer.
For topical application to the skin and scalp, the alcoholic liquid component of the preparation may be rubbing alcohol. When the invention is to be used for topical application to the lining of the mouth and throat, the alcohol component of the preparation may be selected from a group of alcoholic liquors, preferably brandy. The talcum-based embodiment of the invention has been found to be an effective treatment for such epidermal disorders as venereal diseases, athlete's foot and diaper rash.
In a further embodiment, the fenugreek resin may be mixed with distilled water for treatment of disorders of the eyes, ears and nasal passages. In the preferred embodiment, one part fenugreek resin is mixed with three to five parts distilled water. This salve may be topically applied to the eye to treat cataracts, eye injuries and eye infections. It may also be used to treat injuries and infections of the inner ear and nasal passages.
It is believed that the unique combination of the ingredients of the invention result in its unusual healing action. The salve of the invention has also been found to be JJ: 5 2022~
an effective treatment ~or 6calp disorders lncludlng hair loss and dandruff.
Fenugreek resin when mixed with wax may be used as an agent for decontamination, cleaning and polishing of metals and other materials.
While this invention has been described in relation to its preferred embodiments, it is to be understood tha~ various modifications thereof may be apparent to those skilled in the art, and it is intended to cover such modifications which fall within the scope of the following claims.
