Abstract

One of the elements (6) of a framework or other wooden construction is provided in its centre with a longitudinal hollowing-out (6a) extending over its entire length along its geometric axis. <IMAGE>

Description

Fig. 2 est une coupe suivant II-II (fig. 1).

The present invention relates to pieces of wood that are used either in the construction of buildings in general and in particular of those comprising exposed beams or columns, either for manufacturing of trays used to support for example a scoreboard. In particular, this invention refers to the elongated building part wooden monobloc such as in particular a beam, a post, characterized in that it comprises at least one longitudinal perforation over its entire length.

The construction elements of the genre in question have the main disadvantage of splitting after the construction has been completed. These slots are unsightly and constitute depressions in which house dust and insects. The cracks occur during drying of wood which is not never complete before the implementation of the buildings.
The pieces of wood considered are dried subsequent to construction in their periphery, while the heart remains moist for a long time.
The heart therefore creates internal tensions in the part beams that separate it from the periphery, these tensions releasing during drying causing cracks important. The latter also facilitate the drying of the heart, but they never clog.

~ the If we want to make the beams aesthetic, we are forced to fill the slits with dough sold in trade, which of course leads to significant increase in the cost of construction.

The improvements which are the subject of the present invention are aimed at eliminating the cracks which occur in pieces of wood during their drying.

To this end, the pieces of wood follow the invention comprise at least one longitudinal recess. In an advantageous embodiment, each piece of wood has a single perforation made according to its longitudinal geometric axis and over its entire length.

The attached drawing, given by way of example, will allow better understand the invention, the characteristics that it has and the advantages that it is likely to provide:

Fig. 1 is a partial elevation view of a building comprising a frame made by means of beams wood with application of refinements according to the invention. Tear off ycc /

_ 2 elements have been made in this figure to make it more understandable.

Fig. 2 is a section along II-II (fig. 1).

partially illustrated in FIG. 1 the frame of a building essentially composed of 1 posts and successive trusses 2 supporting a roof 3. A beam ridge 4 is supported by the punch 5 of each truss which is itself supported on entry 6.

Edge beams 7 join the successive trusses and rest on the upper part of the posts 1.

According to the invention, each of the wooden elements of the illustrated construction comprises at least one recess longitudinal preferably, but not exclusively, by a perforation la, 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a whose axis geometric is that of the elongated piece of wood considered, said perforation extending over the entire length of the pieces of wood in question.

As illustrated in fig. 2, the recess is made under the form of a circular section perforation, the diameter roughly corresponds to that of the heart of the piece wood in question.

The central perforation of each piece of wood is made by means of a drill bit mounted on the headstock of a wood lathe which is pushed into the piece of wood, while it turned.

Since the perforation carried out in accordance with the invention is carried out in the neutral fiber of said elements, it hardly affects their flexural strength with beams 4, 6 and 7, while of course the compressive strength ycc /

and the buckling of the posts 1 and the punches 5 is also not more diminished.

The hollowed beams according to the invention dry more quickly because of the air it contains in their center, this drying causing no internal tension likely to generate unsightly slits for the reasons that explained above. In addition, the invention allows the artificial drying in appropriate dryers of the parts elongated hardwoods, including oak, which is currently impossible to dry properly in dryers.

Of course, we can also apply the improvements according to the invention to all pieces of wood used indoors for decoration, such as visible ceiling beams or other, so do not split.

The invention also relates to the manufacture of any bath piece lying down whatever it is.

In particular, it goes without saying that the recess of each beam could be offset from its axis geometric ; similarly, we could execute several perforations side by side instead of just one.
