Abstract

- Abstract -In a sanitary water valve handing handle parts mounted on a control spindle by way of plastic ratchet parts, each handle having a handle member clasping the spindle sleeve-fashion ant fixable to the spindle ratchet-fashion, assembly of the handle part is to be simplified. For this purpose, provision is made for arrangement on the handle member (10) of a handle ring (11) rotatable relative thereto and fixable in operating position by securing means (18).

Description

.

- The invention relates to a sanitary water valve havlng handle parts mounted on a control spindle by way of plastic ratchet parts, each handle having a handle member clasping the spindle sleeve-fashlon and fixable to the spindle ratchet fashion.
Where in the prior art the handles of sanitary water valves are ratcheted to the control spindles and/or to the valve body by means of plastlc adapters, these matching handle parts are themselves made of plastic or for example of cast zlnc, hecause these materials affort a better relationship of fit in coopera-tion with t~e ratchet parts; likewlse in the manufacture of handle parts of such configuration, tolerances can be more clo~ely maintalned. But if it is desired to ~ake the bandle parts of pressed or cast brass for example, the pos~lble configurations of a handle part as stated above are inadequate. In the ratchet-ing of known one-piece hantle parts wlth the valYe body the further problem arises that the handle part must be ready in-stalled in the particular correct position for u~e; subsequent correctlon of handle coordination is no longer posslble without more, once the water valves have been lnstalled.

~';'~' ' `; ' ' ~

The obJect of the inventlon 18 to lmprove a sanltary water valve of the kind above referred to, and in partlcular lts hantle part, so that there ls a wite range of choice of material for the handles as well as a slmpliflcatlon of a~sembly, espe-~ S cially with a view to corrections in handle part coortination.
; The ~olution of this problem, including advantageous moti-fications and refinements of the invention, is set forth ln the Claims prefacing this Description.

The invention proceeds on the principle that on the handle member, a girth ring rotatable in relation thereto and fixahle in position for use by securing ~eans i5 arranged. The invention is thus attended by the advantage that only the handle mem~er is ratcheted to the valve body in known manner by way of an inter-posed ratchet part, consisting preferably of plastic; the handle rlng, however, i8 made separate from the handle member, mountable thereon with fitted seat ant rotatable relative thereto, and is fixed to the handle ~ember by securing means for operating posi-tion. This provides the ~pecial advantage that even after as-sembling of the wates valve, the handle rlng may be read~usted with an operating conformation in relatlon to the spindle control of the water valve, in that the handle ring can be brought into a different relative position by rotation in relation to the ratcheted, llmobile hantle member, and only then fixed to the handle member by wsy of the securing means. Thls also provides the po~ibility of replacing the handle ring on an installet water valve without much trouble, replacing it for e~ample with a handle ring of a diÇferent color or having a different op-eratlng conformation.
; 30 According to a preferred embotiment of the invention, by way of example, the handle member at its upper end has a taper ~' `:' . ' :

-segment as seat for the handle rlng, mountet thereon wlth a central recess~ the inner surfaces of the central recess of the handle ring following a taper match$ng that of the associ-ated segment of the handle member. For fixing the handle rlng, the latter, preferably at the upper ent of its seat surfaces, has a setback passing annularly around the central recess, surmou~ted by securing mesns capable of being screwed into t~e handle member, so that when securlng means, for example screws, are suitably tightened, a securing of the~'parts against rotation relative to each other results, Finally, the open handle ring is covered by a screw cap which in turn is screw-able into threadholds formed on the handle member, passing through the handle ring.

Alternatively to the above embodiment, to ~ecure and fix the handle rlng on the handle member, a screw ring may be used, capable of being turned on top of the handle memher into a threaded sectlon there formed.
The drawing represents an embotiment of the inventlon by way of example, as about to be descrlbed. In the drawing, Fig. 1 shows a handle according to the invention for a sanltary water valve, ln sectlon, Fig. 2 960WS a view of the handle part from below.
The handle for a sanltary water valve not shown ln detall conslsts of a handle member 10, a handle rlng 11 and a screw cap 12; the dlsk~like rlng 11 has an asymmetrlcally pro-~ecting radius 13 on the outslde by way of conformation for operatlon.
The ~leeve-like handle member 1~ has at the top a taper segment 14 on which is fitted the handle ring ll with a central recess 15, the inner surfaces 16 of the central recess 15, formed by the thicknes~ of materlal o the presset .~ brass handle rlng havlng a taper matching that of the handle member segment 14. Thus the handle ring 11 can be rotatet in fitted seating on the handle member 10 without being ~: otherwise secured.
! In the handle member 10, in the region of its taper segment 14, holes 17 are drilled, two in this example, to receive screws 18 the heads 1~ of which clasp a set~
back 20 pa~sing annularly about the fitted recess 15 of .~ the handle ring 11 when in place, thus axially fixing and locating the handle ring 11 relative to the handle member 10. Since the screws 18 are drawn up at a suitable torque ~ at the time of as~embly, the handle ring 11 i9 adequately `.: 15 secured against rotation relative to the handle member la ., fixedly located on the valve houslng.
For ratcheting connection of the sleeve-like handle mem-'''! ber 10 to the water valve - not shown - the handle member has a fiYation sleeve 22 extending into the Interior of : 20 its sleeve cavity 21, with a groove 27 for snapping in a -~ pawl equippet with a spring. In atdition, in the top of the fixatlon sleeve 22 threadholds 23 are arranged, into which the screw cap 12 can be screwed from above in a position 2~ clasping the handle rin8 11 and covering its central recess 15.
.,l 25 Between a screw pro~ection 25 to be threaded for the screw ,l cap 12 and the deepest of the as~ociated threatholds 23, ~ an underlay tisk 26 ls additionally arranged.

,~
When the handle part according to the inventlon ls ln~
stalled on a sanitary water valve, first the handle member is engaged with the valve boty or lts splndle, so that rotation of the handle member will control the stream of water passlng ;~

through the valve. Then the handle ring is fItted onto the hantle ~ember and lts operating conformatlon 13 fiYed in - relation to the handle member lQ by inserting and tightenlng the screws 18 so that their heads 19 bear down on the set-back 20 of the handle ring 11. Provided the screws ars drawn up wlth the proper torque, there will be security against ro-tation between the parts 10, 11, 80 that a rotation of the handle ring ll will be transformed lnto a corresponding ro-tation of the handle member lQ. Subsequently, the screw pro~ection 25 of the screw cap 12 is screwed into the thread-holds 23 of the handle member 10.
The features of the sub~ect matter of this Specification as disclosed in the foregoing Description, the Claims, the Abstract and the Drawing may be essential either individually or in any combinations a~ong them to the realization of the invention in its various embodiments.
