Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
There is disclosed a calendar/file/memo system provided with a housing dimensioned to permit hanging on a wall, and having an opening at the top to receive a multi-panel, accordian-folded sheet which serves as a calendar/memo/pad or diary, and at the same time, as a folder for storing sheet material such as notes, cards, memos and invoices. Cutouts in the front face of the housing provide access for viewing of and for making notations on the exposed calendar/pad face and the backs of the panels preferably bear ruling lines or other notation for entry of data.

Description
1 This invention relates to a combined calendar,
2 file and memo system.
3 BACK5ROUND OF THE INVENTION
4 A wide variety of calendars and calendar-diary combination are known. Such calendars include annual ca1endars 6 and multi-year calendars provided with sequential displays 7 to properly indicate the months, years, weeks and days and 8 in some instance.s even make provision for other functions 9 such aa tho dlarying or logging of particular information, such as birthdays, annlversies or the like or other important 11 information.
12 U.S. Patent No. 1,415,803, for example, discloses 13 a multi-year desk or memorandum calendar having a separate 14 sheet for each day of the year. Beside the month and day date, e.g., "AUG. 5", each sheet includes a list of days 16 of the week and corresponding year, e.g., "Friday 1921";
17 "Saturday 1922"; etc., so that each sheet may be used several 18 times for successive years. A portion of each page is provided 19 for the entry or diarying of information.
A perpetual calendar is disclosed in U.S. Patent 21 No. 1,848,634 which includes a base member foldable transversely ; 22 at two points dividing the same into three 2 sided panels, 23 the faces of each panel carrying two month designations and 24 associated week day designations "S, M, T, W....", but no numerical date. A separate flexible numerical date-carrying 26 strip is provided which has printed on its face a matrix 27 of numbers in rows and columns, so arranged that when properly 28 positioned on a selected panel of the base member, the combinatior 29 correctly displays the date sequence for the selected month.

3 Another arrangement known in the field of calendars 4 is a constant reminder memorandum device of the type disclosed in U.S. Patent No. 4,218,077. The calendar includes chart 6 means for the recording of special events and means for 7 facilitating retrieval of such recorded events. In a preferred 8 form, a single chart serves as a remlnder oE events and enables 9 the user to ~ae event~ for a per10d o ~lx months at one time) i~l an expnneded Eorm slx charts are utili~ed to provide more space for recording events to be remembered.

The calendar structure includes linking apparatus for displaying 16 in a linked and continuing fashion, time sequences shown 17 on separate pages thereof. The individual pages are provided 18 with specific hinging structures to permit simultaneous viewing 19 of the last portion of one month and the first portion of the next month, so that a continuous dlsplay ls provided 21 for linked titne sequences notwithstanding the fact that such 22 sequences are provided on separate pages.
23 While some of the foregoing prior art calendars 24 also serve as a calendar/memo pad or diary, none of them provide, at the same time, a storage function for storing 26 sheet material such as notes, cards, memos, invoices and 27 the like. Each of the panels IS is also provided with additional spaces 45, 47 and 49 for 16 entry of important data.
17 The panels of each sheet when folded with respect 18 to each other form a cotlvenient file folder, as shown in 19 Fig. 3, for storage of records, such as receipts, invoices, bills, tax records and the like and especially ehose which 2L relate to the appropriate time periods defined by the calendar 22 panels. The backs of each of the panels of each sheet may 23 also be used for the recording of more detailed infornation.
24 In this connection, the backs of each panel are preferably ruled, as shown at 51 in Fig. 3, to permit convenient recording 26 of such materials as they are logged thereon. The calendar/file/
27 memo system described provides not only a storage capability 28 but also the means for keeping a lifetime permanent record ?9 of information with continuous use from year to year on a monthly basis for each year covered, as well as providing ~.~7~ Y~
1 for the logging of a complete record Oll the bac~s of the panels.
3 It is to be understood, on the other hand, that 4 it is within the purview of this inventioa that the calendar of the described system can be further sub-divided or broken 6 down into weekly or bi-monthly segments. In such cases;
7 there will be a greater number of sheets of panels, the total 8 number o~ sheets being sufficien~ to complete the period 9 of time to be covcred.
It should al~o bc untlcrstood that the de~criptive Il embodiments of this inventiol~ as set forth herein are illustrativ~
12 only and the concepts o this invention are ~ot to be limited 13 thereby, except as defined in the appended claims.
14 In addition to serving as a component of the file arrangment, housing 9 may also provide support for a writing 16 implement. For example, as may be seen from reference to 17 Fig. 4, a holder or pocket 29 may be provided on side member 18 17 to support a pen 31. On the other hand, the pen 31 may 19 be provided with an extensible, flexible cord 33 having one end attached thereto and the opposlte end attached to side 21 member 17, as shown ln Fig. 5. I~l this embodiment of the 22 calendar/ile/memo system of the invention, the pen or other 23 recording device can simply be left hanging from cord 33, 24 although it is generally preferred that the holder or pocket 29, as shown in Fig. 5, also be employed to support the pen.
