Abstract
ABSTRACT
Panels such as place mats comprising a plurality of advertisements or coupons are known.
This invention concerns such panels wherein each such advertisement or coupon is detachably secured inwardly of the periphery of the panel to define an uninterrupted frame around the plurality of advertisements or coupons.
Panels such as place mats comprising a plurality of advertisements or coupons are known.
This invention concerns such panels wherein each such advertisement or coupon is detachably secured inwardly of the periphery of the panel to define an uninterrupted frame around the plurality of advertisements or coupons.
Description
122093~
This invention relates to advertising panels which are displayed or used in public places.
Advertising panels are known which comprise a sheet of material such as paper, cardboard and the like upon which are printed, embossed or engraved business advextisements which may or may not include discount coupons or special offers.
A disadvantage of such advertising panels is that if a viewer sees an advertisement which is of interest to him or her, he or she must make a note of the advertisement, which may be inconvenient if they lack writing materials, or tear off a section of panel which will result more often than not in the destruction of the panel, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a panel which will overcome these disadvantages.
~t is a further object of the invention to provide an advertising panel in which the advertisements and/or discount coùpons are readily detachable from the panel whilst substantially maintaining the integrity of the panel.
An advertising panel in accordance with the inven-tion will now be described, by way of example only, withreference to the accompanying drawing, in which 10 indicates a rectangular sheet of paper, substantially of the size of a place mat as used in restaurants~
A plurality of advertisements 12, which may or may not include discount coupons, are printed on the panel, and ~i~
12~38 each advertisement is completely enclosed within a rectangle of perforations 14.
As can be seen from the drawing, none of the perfo-rations 14 extend to the outer periphery 16. It will thusbe seen that the advertisements 12 are all enclosed within a continuous frame 1~.
Thu~ each advertisement or discount coupon 12 is separately detachable from the sheet by tearing along the perforations surrounding the selected advertisement, the frame 18 ensuring that the sheet 10 substantially maintains its integrity and is still useable as a place mat, and avoids the need for removing the complete place mat in order ~o acquire the advertisements.
Whilst in the above example the sheet 10 has been described as being of a size suitable for use as a place mat, it will be appreciated that thé shape and size can be selected for other uses.
For example the size can be such to contain a larger number of advertisements for display on shopping mall notice boards or the like.
In such a case the sheet may be provided with means, for suspending the sheet, for example appropriately posi-tioned holes or tapes.
Furthermore, whilst the advertisements in the above described example are rectangular in shape, it will be ~220~3~3 appreciated that they may be of any desired shape. For example, they may be round, triangular or oval or any combination of these shapes.
In an alternative construction of panel in accord-ance with the invention, the advertisements can be detachably secured to a sheet by an adhesive which permits removal of a selected advertisement without tearing the sheet or otherwise damaging its integrity.
It will be appreciated that the term "advertisement"
includes public announcements and the like.
Similarly, whilst the sheet 10 has been described as paper, the sheet may comprise cardboard, or other material which lends itself to include detachable advertisements or the like. It will also be appreciated that the sheet may be any desired shape.
In a still further alternative construction of panel whilst each advertisement is completely enclosed within a rectangle of perforations, the perforations are segregated from the perforations enclosing adjacent advertisements and are thus separated by a rib or uninterrupted portion of the sheet 10, and from the periphery of the sheet.
