Abstract
ABSTRACT
A device for temporarily holding articles which comprises an elongated, ruler like member having a slot extending longitudinally therein, one or more pairs of springy fingers being provided and at least two of the said fingers being affixed to the said ruler like member.
A device for temporarily holding articles which comprises an elongated, ruler like member having a slot extending longitudinally therein, one or more pairs of springy fingers being provided and at least two of the said fingers being affixed to the said ruler like member.
Description
The present invention relates to a device fox temporarily holding or storing articlesr either vendible ones presented at places of sale or such articles which are frequently and periodically used for certain activities9 such as e. g. hand tools, domestic device 6, electr ical device s and the like.
In the case of hand tools, for example, it is especially important to keep tools which are not actually used in an easily accessible manner, permitting the choice of a certain tool at a glance and providing the facility of quickly and securely replacing the said tool after use to its place of storage from whlch it can just as easily and auickly be taken when again re~uired.
s~L~L
There are known aIready devices which cornprlse a clamp in the form of a U-shaped rr,e~r~ber, the two legs o the U being spring~Ly urged towards one another, so that an article can be inserted into the space defined between the two legs of the clamp and held there due to the pressure exerted onto it by the springy legs. Obviously such a device can serve only a very limited range of articles, io e. only those which are of such dimension which fit into the space between the two springy legs of the U. Obviously there does not exist any possibility of inserting an article into such a clamp whenever the article is larger or wider than the dimension defined by the U-shaped rnember.
q~ ' 7~'7 It is the object of the present invention to provide a device which can be adapted to serve axticles of different dimensions and which can be changed according to needs, to hold differently shaped articles and different dimensions of articles at different times.
.
According to the invention the new device comprises an el~ongatec~" rulex like merrber having a slot extending longitudinally in the said ruler like rnember, one or more pairs of springy fingers being provided the two fingers in a pair being distinct Irom one another and unconnected to each other - one end of each finger being bent off at a substantially right angle from the major extension of the finger, at least two of the saidfingers being affixed to the said ~uler like member by means of screw bolts, rivets or the like passed through the said bent off end portion and the said longitudinal slot.
In a preferred and practical embodiment, the said fingers are made cf fk.t, inheIently springy matexial, such as e. g. steel strips and are wavily or undul~Ltingly ourved. Alternatively the fingers may be rrade of round or otherwise profiled lengths of material.
The ruler like member may be of any length, according to the use to which it is put and rnay have attached to it as many pairs of f ing er s a s de s ir ed.
SHOR T DE SCRIP TION OF DRAWING S
The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed drawings in which are shown fractional views of the new device, Fig. I being a plan view, Fig,. 2 a frontal and Fig. ~ a rear view of the new device.
4~7 DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
_ _ __~_ There is shown in the drawings an elongated ruler like rail 1 being the base on which are provided springy fingers 2, These are set in a recess 3 in the frontaL face of rail 1~ As can be seen in Fig. 1 the fingers 2 are arrangled in pairs, each pair serving as a holder for whatever article or commodity.
These fingers 2 may all be of the same size, but according to needs pairs of fingers 2 of different sizes and possibly of different shape may be provided, as actually shown in Fig. 1~
The fingers 2 may be affixed to the rail 1 by means of screw bolts 4 which pass through a bent of end portion 2? of each finger 2 and which are secured at the rear of rail I by means o nuts 5.
The nuts are also set in a recess 6 provided at the rear face of r ail 1.
Obviously different means of fixing the fingers to the rail ~ say rivets - may be used.
It will be seen that the new device can serve for holding in storage and immediate readiness all kinds of implements - such as tools in a workshop - or packages of corrmodities, say cans or the like - which are exhibited or presented for sale, or even domestic appliances, such as broorrs, brushes and the like.
In all these cases the respective articles are easily accessible and can always be returned to the holding device when not actually re~uired.
74~
It is also possible to asserr..ble the device to suit certain purposes, either by pro~iding holding fingers o same or diferent sizes or diferent shapes as required by the dimensions, and possibly by the weight of the articles to be grasped and held between the two fingers o:E a pair.
