The said industrial design consists of the shape, configuration and ornamentation of an internal combustion engine, the engine having a generally cylindrical vertical shaft extending downwards from a generally circular mounting flange having a sloped upper surface; the engine has an engine cover having a smooth curved front end, smooth rounded corners in plan view, and a top surface which curves slightly downwards from the rear to the front thereof; the engine cover has a generally circular gas filler cap adjacent the rear end thereof, the filler cap having a domed upper surface; the engine cover also has a recoil starter situated thereon, the recoil starter having a circular top surface and an angled side surface; a part of the angled side surface of the recoil starter has a plurality of spaced-apart generally parallel rows of aligned circumferentially-extending generally rectangular slots therein; the slots in each row are generally identical and the length of the slots increases gradually from the top to the bottom of the side surface; the top surface of the recoil starter has a series of equally spaced-apart radially extending generally identical rectangular slots therein; the recoil starter also has a generally T-shaped starter grip; the right side of the engine has a generally box-like air cleaner housing with an enlarged air cleaner cover mounted thereon, the cleaner housing extending outwardly beyond the engine cover; the air cleaner cover is generally rectangular in elevation view and has a flat outer surface, angled side surfaces, and rounded corners; the left side of the engine has a box-like muffler protector having slightly converging outwardly extending top and bottom walls and slightly converging outwardly extending side walls; the muffler protector has a front wall and bevelled surfaces between the front walland the top, bottom and side walls thereof; the left side of the front wall has a raised flat annular area with a circular opening therein; a central short cylindrical element is situated within the circular opening, slots and corresponding shallow curved depressions with straight and parallel upper and lower edges and slightly rounded ends are situated to the right of the circular opening; the front of the engine has a generally rectangular cover plate with rounded corners and a curved depression in the upper edge thereof; the cover plate has a generally box-like raised area having flat upper, lower and side surfaces, and rounded corners between the upper, lower and side surfaces, the raised area has an outer surface which curves slightly outwards from side to side; beneath the box-like raised area is a generally semi-cylindrical raised area; the rear of the engine has a gas tank situated beneath the engine cover; the gas tank has downwardly and inwards sloped flat side surfaces and a downwardly and forwards sloped flat rear surface with smooth curved corners between the side and rear surfaces and the bottom surface of the gas tank; beneath the gas tank is a portion of the engine structure having a box-like configuration with rounded corners and having a series of spaced-apart generally parallel and identical raised fins extending across the surface thereof.
