Abstract

ABSTRACT
This invention relates to a cassette base for a tape recorder which is easily molded and assembled, and which levels and positions a cassette having a pair of reels wound with magnetic tape when the reels are fitted onto feed and take-up reels. The cassette base has rising portions abutting against an opening lid formed in front of the cassette so as to open the lid.
The base also has a number of levelling portions abutting against the bottom surface of the cassette so as to set a level for the cassette.

Description

i I 6371\~

This device relates to a cassette base for a tape recorder, as for e~ample, a video tape recorder which levels and positions a cassette having a pair of reels wound with a magnetic tape when the reels are fitted onto feed and take-up reels for driving said reels. An object of the device is to provide a cassette base easy to mold and simple to assemble.
In accordance with the inventi~n, there is provided in a cassette mounting base for a video tape recorder of the type wherein the cassette is to be received within an upwardly tilted cassette case mounted on the chassis of a recorder to be tilted downwardly in said case to a predetermined position with respect to said chassis for operation, said cassette being provided with access openings in the bottom thereof for the driving reels and at least one take-out means provided on the recorder for operating the tape spools in the cassette and for withdrawing the tape from the cassette to be loaded into engagement with the recorder magnetic transducing head means, said cassette also being provided with a pivotally mounted lid along one side normally biassed to a closed position, the recorder being provided with an upwardly projecting member to open said lid upon downward movement of the cassette in the tiltable case to said predetermined position, the improvement which comprises a mounting base plate to be mounted by at least three vertical legs projecting upward from the chassis of a recorder horizontally positioned below said tiltable cassette case, said bas.e plate being provided with openings to accommodate said driving reels and take-out means, said base plate being provided with at least three integrally formed upwardly projecting support means for opening said lid of a cassette and to support the ~ J ~3710 cassette independt?ntly of the cassette case in said predetermined position when the cassette case is downwardly tilted.
An embodiment of the device will be detailed in accordance with the drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cassette of the device, used for a video tape recorder, Figure 2 is a bottom plan view of a video cassette mounted on the cassette base, and Figure 3 i5 a view for explanation of operating the cassette to be fit into a mounting case and set on the cassette base.
A cassette 1, as shown in the drawings, carries at the front an opening lid 2 pivoted thereto through a pin 3. The lid 2 is biassed usually in the closing direction. In Figure 1, 4,4 are rising portions abutting against the opening lid 2 formed at the front of cassette 1, thereby keeping the lid open. 5,5 and 6,6 are levelling portions abutting against the bottom surface of cassette 1 to thereby level the cassette 1. A main body 7 is cut and raised at both ends at the front and levelled to form the rising portions 4,4. The rising portions 4,4 as shown in Figure 1, are each cut out at the rear thereof to form the levelling por-tions 5,5. The main body 7 is cut and raised at the rear thereof and levelled with the levelling portions 5,5 thereby forming the levelling portions 6,6, the rising portions 4,4 and levelling portions 5,5 and 6,6 being bent integrally with the main body 7.
The video cassette 1 is provided at the rear thereof with space 11, 12 within which pinch rollers or drawing-up pins are positioned in a non-- la -loading condition> the pinch rollers or drawing-up pins drawing from the front of cassette 1 to a loading mechanism (not shown) a tape 10 wound on a pair of reels 8,9 within the cassette 1. Also the main body 7 is provided at the front edge thereof with a cutout 13 corresponding to the space 11,12.
Furthermore, the main body 7 has a pair of bores 5,6 inserted onto a pair of reel shafts 14 (one reel shaft is no~ shown) sho~n in Figure 3.
The body 7, as shown in Figure 3, is mounted on a chassis 17 through support poles 22. On the other hand, a cassette mounting case 20 is pivoted at 21 swingably through a spring 19 to a support 18 provided upright at the chassis 17. The case 20, as shown by the plantom line in Figure 3, supports the cassette 1 and is mounted on the body 7 as shown by the solid line, so that the cassette 1 is fit on the pair of reel shafts 14 projecting through the pair of bores 15, 16 and the bottom surface of cassette 1 abuts against the levelling portions to thereby set the cassette at the prescribed level.
At this time, the cassette 1 is held to be urged by a lid member 24 having a leaf spring 23 for pushing the cassette at its upper surface.
While, the opening lid 2 abuts against the rising portions 4,4 simultaneously with the downward movement of cassette, and opens through the pin 3, thereby making it possible to draw out the video tape.
As seen from the above, this device has the rising portions abutting against the opening lid formed at the front of cassette so as to open the lid and a plurality of levelling portions abutting against the bottom surface of the cassette to set a level for the cassette, the rising portions and levelling portions being bent and molded integrally with the base, thereby making possible for the cassette base to be easy to mold and simple to assemble, thus reducing the number of parts and the material cost.
