Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
This invention relates to a multi-purpose, one-piece implement or tool which is used to facilitate the putting on and removal of shoes and boots.
The shoe horn is the tool commonly in use to assist in putting on shoes, while the boot caddy, a separate device, is used to aid in removing boots. The boot caddy requires the wearer to put one foot on a board to hold the caddy down, and to put the other foot into a fork-like device in order to pull the foot out of the boot. For this procedure to work, both feet are placed close together, one on the slanted board of the caddy and the other in front, and the arms are used to steady the body. This method can create uncomfortable balance problems which are especially dangerous for older people.

Description
SPECIFICATIOMS
This invent~on relates to a mulci-purpose, one-piece imp]ement which is used in the putting on and removal of shoes and boots.
Ihe objective of khis invention is to alleviate problems related to balance and convenience and to greatly facilitate the removal of shoes and boots while at the same time allowing the individual to stand steadily on the floor and in full control of his balance at all times.
The advantages of this imple~ent are particularly evident in the fact that this tool serves the function of a normal shoe horn and at the same time can be used to push the shoe off the foot without the wearer having to bend down and use his hands. Often the usual way of removing shoes is to kick them oPf with the other foot, a habit that soils and damages both shoes and socks.
The other end of the implement is a V-shaped, two-pronged fork. Its advantages are that while standing in a well-balanced stance, boots can be removed by placing the fork against the heel of the boot, holding the heel of the boot against the floor, and pulling the foot out of the boot.
In drawings which illustrate the principal uses of this invention, Figure 1 is a frontal view of the implement showing the V~shaped, two-pronged fork at the top and the shoe horn at the bottom, Figure 2 is a side view oP the implement, Figure 3 is a rear vie~ of a boot with the two~pronged fork in place over the heel of the boot to hold the boot down 90 that the foot may be pulled out of the boot, Figure 4 is a rear view of a shoe with the shoe horn in place to hold the shoe down in order to facilitate removal of the foot.
Figures 1 and 2 describe the implement which consists of a ~haft 1 with two ends 2 and 3. End

2 is a V-shaped, two-pronged fork which is put over the heel of a boot 4, as in Figure 3. Holding the handle 3, the shoe horn, the implement i5 pu~hed down against the heel of the boot 11 and at the same time the foot is pulled out of the boot. The corrugated in~ide 5 of the two-pronged fork 2 prevents the implement from slipping away from the heel of the boot 4.
The shoe horn end 3 has a ridge 6 on its convex side. This ridge sits on the top of heel 7 of shoe 8. By pushing the implement down onto the heel of shoe 8, and lifting the foot, the shoe is pushed off the foot.
The shoe horn is u~ed in the normal way by placing the horn into the shoe at the heel and slipping the foot into the shoe. Ridge 6 stops the ~poon from going too deeply into shoe 8.
The implement may be qu~pended by hole 9.
