Abstract

The said industrial design consists of the shape, configuration and ornamentation of a automobile steering wheel which is generally symmetrical and has an outer ring section and a boss section situated within the outer ring section; left side, right side and bottom spoke portions connect the outer ring section and the boss section to each other; the boss section, ring section and three spoke portions define three spaces in the steering wheel; the boss section has an outwardly curved generally shield-like front surface portion and a generally flat rear surface with a central cylindrical opening therein; the boss section has a top surface which is curved slightly upwards from side to side, scalloped side surfaces which merge into the rear surfaces of the left side and right side spoke portions, a scalloped bottom surface portion which merges into the rear surface of the bottom spoke portion, and further scalloped sections between the scalloped bottom and side surfaces of the boss section; each scalloped side surface of the boss section has an opposed generally T-shaped member extending outwardly therefrom, each generally T-shaped member having an outwardly curved outer edge; the shield-like portion has outwardly curved upper and lower edges and downwardly converging, curved side edges; the bottom spoke portion has a pair of upwardly diverging members having generally flat front surfaces, the diverging members defining a small generally V-shaped space between them; the diverging members merge through smooth curved sections into lower edges of the left side and right side spoke portions; the left side and right side spoke portions are generally mirror images of each other and each has a raised front surface area having a straight lower edge, a generally straight inner edge, a generally straight upper edge which slopes downwards and outwards and merges through a curved section into an outer edge which extends downwards and outwards to the straight lower edge; each raised front surface area has a central recessed area with a small domed section therein and narrow lateral depressions extending outwardly on either side of the central recessed area; the outer ring section has outwardly curved side sections which merge through curved sections into generally straight upper and lower sections, the upper section being longer than the lower section; each side section of the outer ring has an inwardly extending small curved area with generally flat side surfaces, the curved areas being situated above the left side and right side spoke portions; the outer ring has shallow depressions on the inner front surface thereof situated above the inwardly extending curved areas.
