Abstract
ANIMAL FEEDSTUFF COMPOSITIONS
ABSTRACT
Animal feedstuff compositions which contain at least one feedstuff, such as a known food for animals either derived synthetically or grown naturally, and cement kiln flue dust obtained from the stacks of cement works. The cement kiln flue dust is incorpor-ated in said feedstuff in a dry state, preferably in powder form, or as an aqueous solution and/or dispersion.

DESC~IPTI~N
This invention relates to animal feedstuff compositions.
In accordance with the invention there is provided an animal feedstuff composition comprising at least one feedstuff and cement kiln flue dust.
Throughout this specification, the term "feedstuff" relates to any known food for animals, such as, a synthetically derived food or a naturally grown food, for example, meat or farinaceous material, which may or may not have undergone subsequent processing.
The cement kiln flue dust is usually extracted frQ~ the electro-static precipitators in the chimney stacks of cement works but may be obtained from the grates at the .. ... . .
bases of these stacks. It has been found that this type of ~lue dust, when fed to animals, such as horses, cattle and chickens and other birds, in quantities of four to sixteen ounces per day, depending on the weight, size and species animal, has a beneficial effect on the animals. This effect is thought to arise from an alkaline or calcium, and other trace element, content of the flue dust.
Also, it has been found that animals fed with this dust, which is generally mixed with their usual feed, undergo considerable gains in weight. In the case of horses, a marked improvement in relief from arthritis and other bone maladies has been found. Also, battery hens have shown a marked improvement in relief from cage cramp, rickets and the like.
Furthermore, oil-contaminated birds, such as gull, ducks and geese, whose plumage can be cleaned with this oil-absorbent flue dust, have been found to be eager to consume the :Elue dust in its oil-free state.

Thus, it can be seen that the present invention provides an animal feedstuff composition containing a material which is cheap to obtain, it being basically a waste material, and which needs hardly any further treat-ment, i-f any, before being incorporated in normal feed-stuffs.
