This method A consists in carrying a mass of alloy solid aluminum at a temperature between the solidus of equilibrium and the temperature of the liquidus of equilibrium so that the weight proportion of alloy liquid stays below 40%, and keep it there for 5 to 60 minutes so that the solid dendritic phase has started to evolve into a globular form.

~: 2 / an improvement in elastic limits and elongations for 18 states - Gross spinning - Income 8 H. to 175 C.:
The Applicant has discovered that, in the case of alloys of aluminum ~ structural hardening, it was po ~ susceptible to increase ter the level of mechanical characteristics of the profiles at means of improvements made to the treatment described in the above-mentioned patent. More specifically, the invention consists of a hardening process of aluminum alloy ~
structural, characterized in that one carries a billet ~

billet at this temp ~ rature for a period between a few minutes and a few hours, in that we introduce the billet in the container of a spinning press, which file this billet in the form of a profile, finally that we soak this profile b at the outlet of the die and that it hardens by income or maturing treatment.
According to a particular embodiment of the invention, before placing the billet in the press container spinning, it is allowed to cool to any temperature lower than the equilibrium solidus, then we heat it up at an intermediate temperature between the solidus and the liquidus equilibrium, corresponding to a phase weight fraction liquid below ~ 40%, and preferably below 35%.
Press quenching which consists of energy cooling only the profiles at the press outlet either by air plllsé, either by a sprinkling of water, air-water mixtures, fog, is not conventionally practiced on alloys hard to structural hardening, because it is, most often, inoperative. Indeed, in the case of hardening alloys structural, quenching on press, to provide an improvement characteristics, must maintain in solid solution the maximum of elements likely to precipitate income. Gold, conventional spinning conditions, at a temperature of 420C
for example, do not put enough elements back into solution so that press quenching produces a noticeable improvement.
Also, the practitioner of spinning hard alloys such as 2024 (A-U4G), the 2014 (A-U4SG), the 7075 (A Z5GU) knows very well that it is useless to quench these alloys at the outlet of the press and that it takes to get the specifications maximum, dissolve the profiles, then water quenching followed by tempering or maturing.
In addition, the treatment according to the invention of the patent , ... . .
1C ~ 8 ~ 6 French 75-06953 has another result which is the decrease in the critical quenching speed of the alloy and thus makes it effective relatively mild quenches with pulsed light, for example. These a softer quenching means has another significant advantage.
geable which is the absence of deformation of the profiles.
It should be noted that he was not sexually sufficient to do this simple reheating to 572 C for example, in the case of A-U4SG to reach, by quenching on press followed by a ~.
income, a similar result.
In this case, we would obtain a profile without any cohesion, characteristic of a burnt metal. It is essential to apply the teaching of said patent: maintenance to give to the product its particular globular structure and use a fili ~ re cooled.
A second improvement results from an in-depth study metallurgical mechanisms involved during processing subject of the invention. To do this, refer to the board which represents, for reasons of simplification, a diagram binary, but the same reasoning is applicable to alloys more complex.
Only the aluminum part is shown. We assume that the intermetallic compound causing the hardening structural forms with aluminum an eutectic E. Let alloy of composition A which is gradually heated to from the solid state. At the temperature Tl of the point S ', it starts to melt. If, in accordance with the invention of the main patent cipal, the alloy is then brought to the temperature T ~ Tl and that keeps it there, the alloy evolves over time to a situation tion such that the liquid phase reaches the homogeneous composition L and the solid phase (the globules) the homogeneous composition S.
Examination of the diagram then shows that the composition of the solid globular phase is less loaded with addition elements , ~. . .
lO ~ Z ~ 76 than the average composition of the alloy.
The plaintiff then discovered that, if we increase the content of the alloy in ~ l ~ hardening giving it the compositlon corresponding to point A ', so that the phase globular solid approaches composition S 'of alloy A, that we then practice the maintenance treatment at higher Tl to the solidus of the alloy A 'and that, ultimately, we quench on press, we obtain, by simple income or maturation, characteristics ristiqueC neighbor C ~ or even higher than those of alloy A, spun conventionally, then processed following processing classic complete set ~ in quenching and tempering solution or matura-tion.
Naturally, the composition A ′, that is to say the posi-precise measurement of M 'on the horizontal line of temperature Tl, is defined by the rate of liquid phase that is desired and which depends, for example, on the power of the press and the spinning report.
The liquid phase weight ratio is equal, in fact, solid phase at M'S '.
M'L ' We therefore replaced the conventional treatment on profile ~ s including:
a) a solution ~ temperature relatively high (495C for example) b) quenching these profiles, c ~ income or maturation by a much simpler treatment:
a) quenching of the profile ~ s at the outlet of the presqe easy to implement, b) income or maturation while obtaining the same level of characteristics, and without have the disadvantages of the first treatment.
These drawbacks are twofold:
l ~) l3ZX ~ 6 a) bulky solution furnaces since these are long profiles b) significant deformation on quenching, necess ~ a later dressing of the profiles. Tempering on press, on the contrary, capable according to the invention is softer, does not cause deformation profiles.
In this case, it should be noted that the only combination an increased hardening element and a hardening on press-would not give the same result completely since quenching with water is ineffective, as was said above, on the alloys not treated according to the invention of the French patent ~ ais N 75-06953.
Of course, it is not mandatory, as has was indicated in this patent, to proceed to spinning immediately after maintaining at the temperature between solidus and liquidus. ~ n can very well let the ~ illette apr ~ s this treatment at a temperature below the solidus or even at the ambient. Just then, before spinning, a simple reheating and not maintaining at an intermediate temperature between solidus and liquidus.
The following examples are intended to do better understand the invention without limiting its scope.

_XAMPLE II
From the average composition of another alloy, A-U4G, of which the average copper and magnesium contents are respectively 4.25% and 0.65% we have determined the average composition that an alloy which, brought to a temperature such that it contains approximately 3% of phase liquid, would have an equal average solid phase composition to that of A-U4SG: 4.25% copper and 0.65% magnesium.
To make this determination, one can use the equilibrium diagrams but the ternary diagrams being less well known as binaries, it should complement the information provided by these diagrams, by experiments partial merger with staggered contents and analysis of the solid phase with microprobe.
It was found that an A-U4G, with copper content - 5.10%
and in Mg = 0.80%, would have at 555C, approximately 3% of liquid phase, the ~ olide phase having the approximate composition of the alloy A-U4G nonmal.
A 100mm diameter billet, corresponding content laying, was poured, containing, moreover, the elements secondary addition of the alloy.
The final composition obtained was:

- Cu - 5.20%
- Mg = 0.90%
- Mn - 0.60%
- Ti = 0.025%

We note that the contents obtained were slightly ~ L08 ~ 37t6 higher than the target levels.
This billet was ~, then, cut into four plot ~ 300 mm long, each of which has been treated different.
The plot N 1 was, in the form of corni ~ re of 25 mm x 25 mm x 3 ~ m, spun normally ~ 420oc, therefore according to prior art-eur. The profile has been ~ cooled ~ the calm air at the outlet of the press, with subsequent maturing treatment.
The plot N 2 was ~ spun, according to process A, to a temperature of 555 C, after having been maintained for 30 minutes at this temperature. The profile was cooled in still air to out of the press and has matured.
The piece ~ 3 was ~ treated, according to the present invention tion, that is, it was maintained for 30 minutes ~ 555C, then spun at this temperature. The profile obtained has been air quenched pulsed with a quenching speed of the order of 600C at 8 ~ 0C /
minute, and underwent, finally, a maturation of 16 days.
The plot N 4 was treated ~ and spun in the same conditions as the ~ 3, with the exception of the quenching which was made with water jets, also followed by a 16-day maturation.
The mechanical characteristics were then measured on the profiles obtained. These features are found in the following table, as well as the average characteristics found on A-U4G profiles of normal composition having undergone the usual solution treatment - quenching - ripening -tion.

: 108 ~ 76 Examination of this table clearly shows the interest of the combination: modification of the composition - treatment reheating above solidus - quenching on press (at air or ~ water ~, it provides characteristics as good, if not better, than what you get on A A-U4G of normal composition, normally pulsed spun put in solution, soaked and matured. We therefore save the processing of dissolution.
