Abstract
FOR PRODUCTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS TOLERANT PLANTS, THEIR USES AND RECOMBINANT DNA VECTOR. Plants are influenced by a large number of biotic and abiotic environmental factors and recurrent abiotic stresses are more severe, affecting all plant functions, resulting in reduced growth and productivity. In this sense, the identification and understanding of abiotic tolerance mechanisms are fundamental in the development of new drought-tolerant cultivars. Thus, the present invention provides a method of producing plants that contain in their cells a sequence of sugarcane nucleotides and the overexpression of this gene leads the plant in question to greater tolerance to abiotic stresses. More broadly, a polynucleotide encoding sugar cane protein, which is expressed by a promoter and terminator that function in plants, is described. It is verified that this gene confers tolerance to different abiotic stresses.
