Abstract
MéTODO DE CONJUNTO DE CHIP INDEPENDENTE PARA ATUALIZAR E CONFIGURAR REMOTAMENTE E LOCALMENTE SISTEMA BIOS. Para atualizar um código de sistema básico de entrada/saída (BIOS) armazenado em uma memória não-volátil (NVM) incluída em um sistema de manipulação de informação (IHS), são verificadas várias condições permitindo a atualização do BIOS armazenado na NVM a partir de uma memória do IHS. O conteúdo da memória é preservado mediante desabilita- ção das interrupções e desabilitação dos barramentos principais capazes de causar uma mudança no conteúdo da memória. O BIOS armazenado na NVM é atualizado a partir da memória. Uma interface com o usuário é provida para exibir o status da atualização da NVM para aperfeiçoar a experiência do usuário. No término da atualização o IHS é restaurado mediante habilitação de uma reinicialização a frio, desse modo permitindo que mudanças feitas no BIOS entrem em vigor.
