COMPOSIÇçO DE COMBUSTÍVEL, PROCESSO PARA A PREPARAÇçO DA MESMA, MÉTODO DE OPERAÇçO DE UM MOTOR DE IGNIÇçO POR COMPRESSçO, MÉTODO DE REDUÇçO DA EMISSçO DE NO~ x~, E OPCIONALMENTE PARTICULADOS, DE UM MOTOR DE IGNIÇçO POR COMPRESSçO, E, USO EM UM MOTOR DE IGNIÇçO POR COMPRESSçO DE UMA COMPOSIÇçO DE COMBUSTIVEL. The invention relates to a fuel composition comprising a larger amount of a fuel suitable for use in a compression ignition engine which fuel comprises one or more boiling hydrocarbon components within the diesel boiling range. at least one of which hydrocarbon components has been treated with a metal adsorbent or absorbent material in a different physical phase than the hydrocarbon component (s), preferably to reduce the level of at least one metal, more preferably the level of at least one heavier metal, more preferably the level of zinc in said at least one hydrocarbon component, for the purpose of reducing the NOx, and optionally particulate, emission of a compression ignition engine in the combustion chambers from which said fuel composition is introduced, said treatment including physical separation of the hydrocarbon component metal adsorbent or absorbent phase cap; a process for preparing such a composition; and the reduction of NOx emission, and optionally particulates, of such an engine.
