"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA CODIFICAçãO E DECODIFICAçãO DE VìDEO DE ATUALIZAçãO DE RESOLUçãO REDUZIDA". São fornecidos codificadores, decodificadores, métodos de codificação, e métodos de decodificação para dados de sinal de vídeo para um bloco de imagem. Um codificador para codificar os dados de sinal de vídeo para um bloco de imagem inclui um amostrador descendente de Atualização de Resolução Reduzida (RRU) (515) para amostrar de forma descendente um residual de previsão de resolução total utilizando dados de pelo menos um bloco de imagem vizinho para formar um residual de previsão amostrado de forma descendente de baixa resolução para o bloco de imagem.
