Abstract
A metal powder is compacted and an infiltrating outline is formed from a sheet of beaten metal. The infiltrating outline is placed above the compact, and the coptic is sintered at a sufficient temperature to form a sintered compact with a matrix having pores and melt the beaten metal such that molten beaten metal infiltrates the pores of the matrix. The infiltrating sketch may be formed with a locating element to engage a corresponding locating element in the compact to improve positioning of the sketch in the compact. Also, the compact may be sintered separately, and the infiltrating outline may then be placed in the sintered compact. The beaten metal is then melted such that the molten beaten metal infiltrates the pores of the matrix.
