Abstract

"REDE DE COMUNICAçõES PARA ASSINANTES PSTN". Sistemas para conectar linhas de infra-estrutura de telecomunicações aos telefones, aparelhos telefónicos, computadores, máquinas de telecópia e outras interfaces de usuário final ou dispositivos eletrónicos de consumidor em residências ou escritórios. Sistemas de acordo com a presente invenção incluem Unidades de Controle de Rede que formam a centro de uma topologia estrela e que se comunicam via enlace de RF com Unidades de Acesso sem Fio e aparelhos telefónicos. Unidades de Acesso sem Fio têm uma interface como, por exemplo, uma tomada telefónica padrão para acomodar um telefone, um aparelho de fax, um modem de computador ou outro dispositivo. Para compensar perda de linha, combinação inadequada e outras incompatibilidades entre a rede de telecomunicação pública e sistemas de acordo com a presente invenção, novas técnicas de codificação de acordo com a presente invenção empregam codificadores/decodificadores que codificam e decodificam utilizando palavras de código de 10 bits, em comparação com a codificação e decodificação de lei mu convencional que utiliza palavras de código de 8 bits. O desempenho de 16 bits resultante gera uma relação de sinal/ruído subjetiva de ~90 dB via enlace de freq³ência de rádio dos sistemas de presente invenção. Tais técnicas de codificação e segmentos de código de 10 bits podem ser acomodados facilmente pela capacidade de processamento atual, não disponível quando a codificação de lei mu foi adaptada.
