Abstract

"ARTIGO TUBULAR ENTRANçADO" Um artigo tubular entrançado (10) compreende uma forma tubular de fios (12) helicoidalmente entrançados, aos quais é acoplada uma pluralidade de elementos de retenção (14) estendendo-se axialmente, convenientemente como elementos de urdume entrançados com a forma tubular. Os fios (12) são entrançados com um pequeno passo de hélice, que permite que a forma tubular seja estendida axialmente e contraída radialmente sobre um substrato como uma luva de proteção. Os elementos de urdume são essencialmente inextensíveis e o acoplamento friccional entre eles e os fios entrançados inibe a extensão do artigo, permitindo que ele seja manipulado e passado por um substrato antes da aplicação de uma força de extensão deliberada para superar a fricção e contatá-lo com o substrato. Os elementos de retenção podem ser outros que elementos de urdume entrançados e o acoplamento inibindo a extensão pode ser uma ligação disruptível em lugar de, ou em suplemento à, fricção.
