Abstract
"COMPOSIçõES DE PRé-POLìMEROS DE POLIURETANO, ESPUMAS FEITAS DESTAS E MéTODOS PARA FAZER CADA QUAL". Uma composição de pré-polímero de poliisocianato é compreendida do produto de reação de (a) um poliisocianato orgânico tendo uma funcionalidade média de isocianato de pelo menos 2 e contendo pelo menos 20 por cento em peso de um monómero de diisocianato, (b) um álcool monohídrico e (c) um poliol tendo uma funcionalidade média de hidroxila de pelo menos 1, 8 e no máximo 3,2, sendo que a composição de pré-polímero tem (i) uma quantidade de grupos isocianato em peso suficiente para reagir com água na ausência de um agente de sopro suplementar para fazer uma espuma, (ii) no maximo 10 por cento em peso do monómero de diisocianato e (iii) uma quantidade de poliisocianato que seja capeada pelo álcool polihídrico suficiente para evitar a gelificação da composição de pré-polímero. A polyisocyanate prepolymer composition is comprised of the reaction product of (a) an organic polyisocyanate having an average isocyanate functionality of at least 2 and containing at least 20 weight percent of a diisocyanate monomer, (b) one monohydric alcohol and (c) a polyol having an average hydroxyl functionality of at least 1, 8 and a maximum of 3.2, with the prepolymer composition having (i) an amount of isocyanate groups in sufficient weight to react with water in the absence of a supplementary blowing agent to make a foam, (ii) a maximum of 10 percent by weight of the diisocyanate monomer and (iii) an amount of polyisocyanate that is capped by sufficient polyhydric alcohol to prevent gelation of the prepolymer. The prepolymer composition can be formed by contacting (i) an organic polyisocyanate having an average isocyanate functionality of at least 2 and an amount of diisocyanate monomer of at least 20 weight percent, (ii) a monohydric alcohol and ( iii) a polyol having an average hydroxyl functionality of at least 1.8 and a maximum of 3.2 for a sufficient time and temperature to form the prepolymer composition, the organic polyisocyanate, monohydric alcohol and the polyol being contacted at a ratio of NCO to hydroxyl, of at least 2 and at most 5, and the monohydric alcohol and the polyol are provided at a ratio of monohydric alcohol to polyol of at least 0.1 to a maximum of 2, based on the equivalents of hydroxyl of monohydric alcohol and polyol. The prepolymer composition can be reacted with water to form a polyurethane foam.
