A seq³ência de DNA do promotor é mostrada na Figura 5. Cassetes de expressão e sistemas de expressão assim como processos de transformação, plantas transformadas incluindo a seq³ência promotora da invenção também são reivindicados. O ácido nucléico pode ser usado inter alia na produção de plantas estéreis machos e/ou híbridos assim como na transformação de pólen."PóLEN-SPECIFIC PROMOTOR" A recombinant nucleic acid comprising a promoter sequence of the ZmC5 gene in maize, or a variant or fragment thereof, which acts as a pollen promoter.
