<B>MéTODO E APARELHO PARA DETERMINAR SE UMA ESTAçãO SEM FIO ESTá OPERANDO DENTRO DE UMA REGIãO GEOGRáFICA PRESCRITA.<D> Método e aparelho para determinar se uma estação sem fio está operando dentro de um local geográfico prescrito. Durante um processo de inicialização, o telefone sem fio mede retardos de propagação de sinais piloto a partir de estações de base vizinhas e armazena os retardos de propagação em uma memória não volátil da estação sem fio. Posteriormente, durante um processo de verificação, a estação sem fio mede os retardos de propagação dos sinais piloto a partir de estações de base vizinhas e compara os mesmos com os retardos de propagação armazenados na memória. Se a diferença entre os dois conjuntos de retardos de propagação estiverem dentro de uma tolerância predeterminada, então é feita uma determinação de que uma estação sem fio está operando dentro do local geográfico prescrito. During a startup process, the cordless phone measures propagation delays for pilot signals from neighboring base stations and stores propagation delays in a non-volatile memory of the wireless station. Subsequently, during a verification process, the wireless station measures the propagation delays of pilot signals from neighboring base stations and compares them with the propagation delays stored in memory. If the difference between the two sets of propagation delays is within a predetermined tolerance, then a determination is made that a wireless station is operating within the prescribed geographical location. Multiple sets of propagation delays can be stored in memory in such a way that a determination can be made as to whether the mobile station is operating within any of several prescribed geographical locations.
