A nanocomposite polymer composition of a polyamide and a treated silicate, in which the treated silicate includes a silicate material treated with at least one daemonium ion of the formula: + NR ~ 1 ~ R ~ 2 ~ R ~ 3 ~ R ~ 4 ~ in which R ~ 1 ~, R ~ 2 ~, R ~ 3 ~ and R ~ 4 ~ are independently selected from a group consisting of a saturated or unsaturated C ~ 1 ~ to C ~ 22 ~ hydrocarbon, substituted hydrocarbon and branched hydrocarbon or in which R ~ 1 ~ and R ~ 2 ~ form an N, N-cyclic ether and optionally, one between R ~ 1 ~, R ~ 2 ~, R ~ 3 ~ and R ~ 4 ~ is hydrogen.
