Abstract

The invention relates to - advantageously transgenic - cells, culture materials, parts of plants and plants in which the level of expression of the homologous aldose reductase protein is increased and which show increased resistance against conditions of stress from different sources. The invention further relates to DNA molecules and vectors suitable for the expression of the aldose reductase-homologous protein and processes for the preparation of plant cells overproducing the aldose reductase-homologous protein. The invention is suitable for reducing crop damage caused by biotic and abiotic stress conditions and for improving the expectations of the resulting crops.
