Abstract

OF STARCH BRANCH ENZYME EXPRESSION" describes a method of inhibiting gene expression. The method, which affects enzyme activity in a plant, comprises expressing in a plant (or cell, or tissue or organ thereof) a nucleotide sequence where the nucleotide sequence encodes, partially or completely by a class of A SBE intron, with a sense orientation; and where the nucleotide sequence does not contain the sequence that makes sense for an exon sequence normally associated with the intron.
