A presente invenção se refere a um dispositivo e método para proteção, em uma instalação de energia elétrica, de um objeto (1) contra corrente excessivas de uma rede (3) ou outro equipamento incluído na instalação de alta tensão, o dispositivo compreendendo um dispositivo de comutação (4) em uma linha (2) entre objeto e a rede/equipamento, a linha (2) entre o objeto e a rede/equipamento sendo conectada a uma disposição de redução decorrentes excessivas (5) na direção do objeto (1), dita disposição (5) sendo ativada para redução de corrente excessiva com a ajuda de uma disposição (11, 13) de detenção de condições de corrente excessiva, dentro de um periodo de tempo substancialmente menor que o tempo de interrupção do dispositivo de comutação (4).<B> '' DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING AN OBJECT AGAINST EXCESSIVE CURRENTS, UNDERSTANDING EXCESSIVE CURRENT REDUCTION AND CURRENT LIMITATION '' <D>.
