Uma ferramenta de calafetagem (20) compreende meios (24, 25, 26, 27) para temporariamente fixar a ferramenta a uma placa de filtro e um corpo de calafetagem operável de modo pivotante (29, 30, 31) que pressiona uma corda de calafetagem em uma ranhura na placa de filtro de modo a capturar uma parte do pano de filtro na mesma.
