Also provided is a nicotine composition prepared by a method comprising the steps of heating a tobacco raw material to an extraction temperature between 100 degrees Celsius and 160 degrees Celsius for at least 90 minutes; collection of volatile compounds released from the tobacco raw material during the heating stage; forming a liquid tobacco extract comprising the collected volatile compounds; and forming a nicotine composition from the liquid tobacco extract.
