Disclosed herein are systems and methods for attaching a polymeric sheet to reinforcement components of a frame structure, wherein the reinforcement components are hinged to a core for the purpose of forming an expandable and retractable implant. In general, the method may include steps of decreasing the diameter of the frame structure; placement of the frame structure in an assembly installation, wherein the assembly installation is configured to maintain the frame structure in a loaded configuration with a reduced diameter; placement of a polymeric sheet within the assembly facility; and heating the assembly under pressure to fuse the sheet to the frame structure. In general, an installation may include a first and a second plate having a shaping part and an edge portion positioned around the periphery of the board, wherein the shaping parts are configured to hold the frame structure reinforcing components in place. a loaded configuration with a decreased diameter.
