resumo patente de invenção: "método para produzir açúcares solúveis em água a partir de biomassa com o uso de solventes que contêm lactonas". a presente invenção refere-se a um processo para produzir uma solução aquosa de carboidratos que contém oligômeros que contêm açúcar c6, monômeros de açúcar c6, oligômeros que contêm açúcar c5, monômeros de açúcar c5 ou qualquer combinação dos mesmos. o processo inclui as etapas de reagir a biomassa ou um reagente derivado de biomassa com um sistema de solvente que inclui uma lactona e água e um catalisador de ácido. a reação rende uma mistura de produto que contém oligômeros que contêm açúcar c6 solúveis em água, monômeros de açúcar c6, oligômeros que contêm açúcar c5, monômeros de açúcar c5 ou qualquer combinação dos mesmos. um soluto é adicionado à mistura de produto para causar a partição da mistura de produto em uma camada aquosa que contém os carboidratos e uma camada orgânica substancialmente imiscível que contém a lactona.
