Abstract

MÉTODO E SISTEMA DE ARMAZENAMENTO DE DADOS. A presente invenção refere-se a um processo de alocação que permite que dados codificados de apagamento sejam armazenados em qualquer uma de uma pluralidade de unidades de disco, em uma combinação de unidades, de modo que a alocação não seja amarrada a um grupo fixo de unidades. Mais ainda, os dados codificados podem ser gerados por qualquer um de múltiplos diferentes algoritmos de codificação de apagamento, onde novamente o armazenamento dos dados codificados não está restrito a um único grupo de unidades com base no algoritmo de apagamento que está sendo utilizado para codificar os dados. Em outra modalidade, os dados codificados podem ser "empilhados (alinhados) sobre unidades selecionadas para reduzir o número de buscas de cabeça requeridas para acessar os dados. Como um resultado destes aperfeiçoamentos, o sistema pode dinamicamente determinar qual de múltiplos algoritmos de apagamento utilizar para um dado bloco de dados que entra, sem estar amarrado a um algoritmo específico e um grupo específico de dispositivos de armazenamento como na técnica anterior.
