Abstract

evolução metabólica de cepas de escherichia coli que produzem ácidos orgânicos. a presente invenção refere-se á evolução metabólica de um organismo microbial previamente otimizado para produção de um ácido orgânico em quantidades comercialmente significantes, sob condições de fermentação usando um açúcar de hexose com fonte única de carbono em um meio mineral mínimo. como um resultado desta evolução metabólica, o organismo microbial adquire a capacidade de usar açucares de pentose derivados de materiais celulósicos para seu crescimento, enquanto refém as cinéticas de crescimento original, a taxa de produção de ácido orgânico e a capacidade de usar açúcares de hexose como uma fonte de carbono. esta invenção também revela a mudança genética no micro-organismo que confere a capacidade de usar ambos os açucares de hexose e pentose simultaneamente na produção de quantidades comercialmente significantes de ácidos orgânicos.
